The CNASA Scholarship Program provides Chickasaw students across the country with an opportunity to participate in the Chickasaw Nation Aviation & Space Academy. Interested students must submit a scholarship application and a CNASA application, which contains competitive criteria applicants must meet. A committee will evaluate and rank completed applications to determine scholarship recipients. CNASA scholarships will cover the cost of round-trip airfare or mileage, lodging and meals. FIRST LEGO League provides Chickasaw students, ages 9 to 14, with an exciting experience in a global robotics program that ignites an enthusiasm for discovery, science and technology. The FIRST LEGO League teams are guided by a team coach and assisted by mentors. Students research and solve real-world problems based on the challenge theme, present research and solutions and build an autonomous robot using engineering concepts. The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) allows students to build on skills learned as an FTC participant. Operating under strict guidelines, limited resources and a short build period, FRC teams are challenged to design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills and build and program a 120-pound robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. Team mentors share their skills and talents to guide each team. To compete, students must focus on design, demonstrate team spirit, professionalism and maturity and the ability to overcome obstacles. The burial supplement assistance program is for Chickasaw citizens who are 60 years of age or older. The Chickasaw Nation Division on Aging will pay up to $2,500 toward the FINAL balance of the Chickasaw elder’s burial expense. The one-time payment will be made directly to the funeral home. This assistance pays last, after all other avenues of payment are exhausted, including, but not limited to: pre-needs insurance (prepaid burial policy), social security and/ or burial assistance through other Chickasaw Nation offices/programs. Application must be received within 60 days of elder’s funeral service.

The Chickasaw Honor Guard conducts military honors at funerals and memorial services. To be eligible for funerals and memorials, you must be a veteran. The honor guard also participates in various tribal functions and patriotic activities. Individuals or groups requesting service must call and make advance arrangements. Services/activities will be scheduled according to request, time and place.

The Chickasaw Nation Headquarters Gym is a state-of-the-art basketball facility available for rent to Chickasaw citizens for tournaments and practices. The gym is built to accommodate a variety of ages, with goals that adjust from 8 to 10 feet. Open gym times will be available for shoot arounds and pick-up games. The Chickasaw Nation Softball Complex is a state-of-the-art softball facility available for rent to Chickasaw citizens for tournament and exhibition games. ACTING WORKSHOPS are presented in the areas of acting on stage, acting for the camera, musical theatre, how to write a resume and take a head shot. CHICKASAW THEATRE COMPANY is a group of trained and amateur actors, directors, playwrights, costumers, set designers and other volunteers who perform in theatrical presentations, radio, television and film. CHICKASAW YOUTH STORYTELLING WORKSHOP takes place in November with a story concert the Saturday before Thanksgiving for ages 8-13. The workshop is nine days long. Students learn the traditions of Chickasaw storytelling, as well as other story genres from other cultures. Seating is limited. The Chickasaw Nation Career Technology Program is available to part-time and full-time Chickasaw students attending a state or nationally accredited career technology center, online education institute, trade school or private training facility, whereby graduates receive a professional certification or license upon completion of their program. CAREER TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM (CTP) GRANT shall be based on the student’s program’s tuition and fee costs, with $6,000 being the maximum award amount per certification. An invoice or billing statement must be submitted to process any award amount. The student’s federal and/or state financial aid award will be taken into consideration when processing the CTP Grant award amount. All students must submit a high school transcript, high school equivalency or college transcript. Eligibility is not dependent on completion or grade point average. Application must be made before the student’s course completion date to be eligible. EXAM AND LICENSURE ASSISTANCE GRANT provides assistance for required textbooks and supplies as determined by the student’s program. The textbook and supplies assistance grant is available once per certification. Part-time and high school students may qualify for $250. Fulltime students may qualify for $500. CHICKASAW HUMANITIES STUDIES COURSES are offered at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, and University of Oklahoma in Norman, with college credit awarded upon successful completion of each course. In the Clemente I course, students explore the rich and diverse culture, history, government, language and experience of the Chickasaws in comparison to Western culture. Clemente II is similar in focus, but compares and contrasts Chickasaw history and culture with various North American tribes. TRADITIONAL STORYTELLING shares our stories with audiences at schools, civic organizations, clubs and universities. Stories are shared through story concerts, such as Spooky Tales in October and Love Stories in February, as well as storytelling workshops. Storytelling can be integrated into the standard Oklahoma academic curriculum. ADULT ART CLASSES provide an introduction to various mediums and subject matter. Enrollment is open to community members, with classes in Ada at the arts and humanities building, and in Sulphur at the ARTesian Gallery & Studios. The CHICKASAW CHOIR program provides opportunities for children, youth and adults to sing in a community setting and to develop musical skills, stage presence and movement, thereby encouraging confidence and improved self-esteem. Open to students age 8 and older. CHICKASAW SCHOOL OF GUITAR offers weekly guitar lessons to qualified students, ages 1218 and adults. Classes offered are beginners, intermediate, advanced and adult. The CHICKASAW YOUNG ARTISTS STUDIO (CYAS) assists students, grades seven through 12, with art portfolios, contest preparation, one-on-one studio time with an instructor and provides general mentoring of Chickasaw young artists throughout the year. A SATURDAY ARTS PROGRAM provides formal training in Chickasaw and other Southeastern tribal fine arts. Applications are accepted beginning in December each school year, for grades three through eight. SENIOR CITIZENS ART WORKSHOPS are offered each fall and spring for senior citizens affiliated with Chickasaw Nation area senior centers. Chickasaw citizens pursuing higher education from accredited institutions are eligible to receive various grants and scholarships to assist with the cost of tuition, books and fees. A GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP is available to Chickasaw students who take three or more credit hours each term and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awards are based on enrollment and classification, and an incentive is available based on GPA. The GOVERNOR’S, LT. GOVERNOR’S & LEGISLATOR’S SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded onetime only for graduating high school seniors who have achieved a high level of academic success. In order to be eligible for these scholarships, a student must have earned a 3.85 GPA or higher, or have been selected class valedictorian or salutatorian. As a student progresses through college and completes a classification with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, he or she is eligible to receive $500 per incentive. The Chikasha House provides families or caregivers of patients admitted to CNMC a convenient and relaxing “home away from home” lodging facility. There are two guest houses, each one containing four guest rooms. One guest room in each house is also handicapped accessible. All rooms contain two full-sized beds, a TV, refrigerator and private bathroom. In addition, both houses include a common kitchen and living area. Also available on site are a game room and outdoor playground, two serenity gardens, laundry facilities, a safe room and a state-of-the-art security and surveillance system. • • •

CHIP provides rehabilitation of older Mutual Help homes over and above the maintenance that is required of tenants, in accordance with the policies and home buyers’ agreements. It also provides rehabilitation to low-rent developments as needed. In addition, CHIP provides grants for repairs of privately-owned homes of low-income Native Americans and emergency repairs of privately-owned homes of Chickasaw citizens.
