PROJECT DESCRIPTION Venice Boulevard Transit Priority System (TPS) W.O. No. L1302794 FTA Project No. CA-03-0796 NOTICE TO BIDDERS The bid documents for this project will be issued through the City of Los Angeles (CLA) Business Assistance Virtual Network (www.labavn.org). Refer to the section entitled “Bid Documents” in this “Project Description” for information on how to obtain these bid documents. WORK DESCRIPTION This Venice Blvd. Transit Priority System (TPS) project will replace existing Type 170 traffic signal controllers with new Type 2070 controllers to handle additional inputs and phases for buses, and also to install bus transponder hardware and wide bus loops in the roadway. The traffic data collected from the intersection will be used to communicate with the ATSAC Center via interconnect cables. This will allow the ATSAC Center to control and to monitor each intersection along the bus route with a computer-controlled traffic signal system, giving priority to the bus operation. This project is expected to improve bus passenger travel times, encourage a shift from automobile use to public transit, and provide a smoother riding surface for buses and automobiles. CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE CLASSIFICATION At the time of bid the contractor must possess a valid State of California Contractor's License Classification of "A" or a combination of “C” licenses within the field and scope of a majority of the work.
