July 12, 2016 To Whom It May Concern: Vineyard Columbus is looking to hire a new Research Assistant for our Senior Pastor, Rich Nathan. Vineyard Columbus is a multi-racial, multi-ethnic community of faith located in Columbus, Ohio, whose mission is to develop a community of disciples who experience God, love one another, and partner with Christ to heal the world. We are a Both-And church that believes in bringing together the best of the evangelical, charismatic, social justice and liturgical streams. Our church is comprised of people from all walks of life, and we have a strong bent towards justice regarding the marginalized. The 40-year old church that began with just a handful of people is now a multi-racial, multi-generational, multi-site church that averages 8,000 people each weekend at its five campuses, which includes a Spanishspeaking congregation. In addition, Vineyard Columbus has planted 35 churches in the United States, and is engaged in significant mission activity in the Majority and Mus lim worlds. Rich Nathan, the senior pastor of Vineyard Columbus, has a passion to raise up new leaders, pastors, missionaries, and church planters. Overall Responsibility:  The Research Assistant’s job is to aid the Senior Pastor with gathering information and resources as he prepares his sermons, conference talks, articles, and other speaking and writing engagements. Responsibilities:  Research (commentaries, dictionaries, articles, books, newspapers, old sermons, illustrations, etc.)  Coordinate sermon series and related follow-up events with relevant departments (seminars, campaigns, workshops, classes, etc.)  Send out Rich’s monthly congregational email and keep the email database updated  Edit sermon transcripts and write sermon summary for the web  Update Rich’s personal blog and occasionally other social media outlets (min. technical experience required)  Lead a Vineyard Columbus small group  Handle general pastoral duties including teaching, officiating at weddings and funerals, and administration Qualifications & Expectations  Must profess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and commit to a lifestyle of spiritual growth and maturity  Must have a passion for reading and theological scholarship  Required to become a member of Vineyard Columbus by taking the first available Membership 101 class  Hard worker, highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills  Detail oriented  Comfortable learning and using new technology  Must fit theologically within empowered evangelicalism  Must have a heart for social justice Preferred  Would ideally have a strong sense of calling to either plant a church or be a senior pastor in the Vineyard  Previous ministry leadership experience  Master of Divinity or a Master of Arts degree in a related field Terms of Employment  The new hire will start in October of 2016  This is a temporary, developmental position that is intended to last two years
