PURPOSE TO DO RIGHT ( Daniel 1:1-8 ) There is a saying that goes like this: There are three types of people, (1) those that don't know what is happening (2) those that watch what is happening (3) those that make things happen. The same can be said of the church: (1) there are those that are ignorant of what's going on (2) those that inspect what is going on (3) those that are involved in what's going on. Daniel was one of the great men of the bible who chose to be someone who was involved in what God was doing and chose to do right. PURPOSE TO BE SAVED II Corinthians 6:2 This is the time to make the most important decision of our life. We must be sure of our own salvation and make sure we do everything we can to make sure our family and friends are saved also. Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:23 Salvation s necessary because God says our heart lies to us and cannot be trusted, and because we are born sinners we cannot get to God on our own. John 3:18 God's word tells us that we are all condemned to Hell if we choose not to trust Him. I Corinthians 15:1-4 The bible tells everyone how full and free salvation is when we trust Christ. PURPOSE TO PRAY I Thessalonians 2:13; 5:17 We should have a prayer list because of our forgetfulness and our constant neglect of praying. Scripture commands us to pray when we should have a desire to pray. Daniel 6:10 We should set a particular time for praying, a habit, every day like eating or sleeping. Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 64:7 We must purpose in our heart to constantly be in a state of confession and repentance from sin in order to be sure that God will hear our prayers. PURPOSE TO STUDY Psalm 119:148 We must take time to read and meditate on what God has for us. There are many tools and study guides available for us. There really is no excuse for not spending some time in God's word. II Timothy 2:15 This scripture is one of only a few that tells us what we can do to please our Lord and be able to gain knowledge and understanding of what the bible is all about. James 1:22 Once we understand what the bible is saying to us, we must be obedient to what it tells us less we become hypocrites and become foolish in our own conceit. PURPOSE TO BE SEPERATED II Corinthians 6:14 We must be separated in our attitude, separate in our appearance, and separate in our associations. To be separate from the world means we are to separate with believers; (Heb. 10:25). Proverbs 13:20; I Corinthians 15:33 Our actions and our daily lifestyle will determine for us and those that see us our level of love and loyalty to our Savior and Lord. PURPOSE TO SERVE Joshua 24:15 We should purpose this year to spend more time serving God than serving self. Ephesians 2:10; Hebrews 6:9-10 Our salvation is free but God saved us to serve Him while we wait for our coming home event. He tells us that He will come quickly, and He is bringing our rewards.
