Radically MIRACULOUS: The Person of the Savior This week's teaching underscores how radical the person of Jesus truly was. He was rooted in his Father's passionate love to save lost people... and he went to extraordinary lengths in dedication to that passion. As disciples [i.e., his learning followers] of Jesus, how can we do the same? Begin with Your HEART What does it mean to be truly "dedicated" to something? Perhaps someone comes to mind who exemplifies dedication. Who might that be? What did that dedication look like? Was it radical? Now explore a bit personally. To what have you radically given-yourself in life? [are you an AVID sports fan, an INCURABLE movie-goer, a RELENTLESS collector of rare coins, or _____?] In this same spirit, how would you describe your spiritual dedication ["full" or "moderate" or "sub-par"]. What's behind your self assessment? A Look in GOD’S WORD You've heard the phrase "Take no prisoners!" – it's an engaging-in-a-battle description of an army's attitude to win and conquer...and accept nothing less. A bit radical...but then again, when it came to selling out spiritually, Jesus himself called us to the same. As you read the following passages, discuss what you hear Jesus [or his apostles] teaching -- in each passage -- about what "radical" spiritual commitment is. Matt 4:19, Mark 1:17 Jesus' point? That looks like in life...? Luke 9:57-62

Jesus' point with each person? [there are three of them]

That looks like in life...? Luke 14:25-27

Jesus' point?

That looks like in life...? 1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Paul's point?

That looks like in life...? 1 John 3:15-17

John's point?

That looks like in life...? There are other passages of course, but with these in mind, how WOULD YOU summarize what spiritual dedication is? State it in a sentence that captures something of what you've found in Scripture? My LIFE - our MISSION True spiritual dedication to God's priorities and passion is indeed radical. Others might not understand it – our commitment to having God make my day [daily time with him in the Word and prayer,], to asking the Spirit to flow through me [living in prayerful dependence on the HS], to sharing my tough stuff [being vulnerable with spiritual partners], to a worn welcome mat lifestyle [caring and praying others toward Jesus], to fishing with others [doing ministry together], to investing spiritually in eternity [directing resources to God's work]. Which of these questions deserves a greater "dedication" in your life? In what ways are you willing to grow in this area?
