WEEK OF OCTOBER 14-20, 2018 Principal's Message - Fortitude Fortitude: mental and emotional strength in facing di culty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously Do you have it? We certainly have a lot of di culty, adversity, danger, or temptation in our lives. But do we always approach those things with fortitude? We often times think, "We can't do it, I'm too tired, I don't get it, we can't do it on our own..." This brings me to our school theme for the year, Built on the Rock. Isaiah 26:4, "...the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal." We can have fortitude with Jesus. Remember David, the shepherd boy, the one who killed the giant Goliath? How was it possible that this small, unimposing shepherd boy was able to walk out onto a battle eld and stand toe-to-toe with this over nine-foot tall man?? Because Jesus was on his side, David was able to have fortitude in the face of that adversity. So, then we too can have fortitude when faced with adversity in our lives. We can trust that God is on our side with the small things as well as the big things. Many things will come our way and test our faith...sickness, divorce, death, jobs, rough social situations....We know that with Jesus, we can face those things courageously. Isaiah 40:31, "but those who hope in the Lord will renew

their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Go, have that "mental and emotional strength" when facing adversity, trust that God is on your side giving you a helping hand the whole way! God's blessings to you all! Mr. Ross

Classroom Update Update from Mrs. Mangini's 2nd Grade The second grade classroom is no longer the rst grade classroom. As many of you know the second graders are in the same classroom with the same teacher this year and it couldn’t have worked out better. We have become a family in room 6 and know each other very well. One theme in our room this year is “becoming independent". The students have matured, handwriting is improving and reading is becoming more uent. When we rst started off the school year and discussed classroom management, we reviewed a poster that hangs in our room with the Bible passage from 1 John 4:19; “We love, because he rst loved us.” When we discussed classroom behavior, the overall important question always came back to, are you showing love to your classmates? Students don’t need to respond because they instantly know the answer to this question. Modeling Christ’s love in the classroom is the greatest foundation for classroom management. Second grade has been busy in our classroom as we learn lots of new things in various subjects. We are busy in reading class as we rotate using the Daily 5 method. Students get to work in small groups on spelling words, buddy reading, writing center, reading to the teacher and at the listening center. We are learning how the government works in social studies, reviewing adjectives and adverbs in grammar and enjoying watercolor painting on Fun Fridays! We are heading to the Bates Nut Farm next week to enjoy some fall fun and we are also heading to the Christian Youth Theater to watch the “Newsies” at the end of the month. Grades 1-4 will be singing at the 10:30 am service this coming Sunday, October 14. You are invited to come and hear us sing! We are thankful for all the blessings that God has so richly showered upon us here at Reformation.

Sharon McKnight used her talents to make nice and inviting curtains for our 2nd grade classroom.
