Redeemer Lutheran Church Associate Pastor for Faith Formation Reports to: Senior Pastor
Status: Part-time
Purpose: To nurture transformative faith formation throughout the life span for children, youth and their families in support of Redeemer’s mission of transforming lives by God’s grace for authentic Christian living. Equip parents and grandparents to be the faith nurturers in their homes and families. Create family experiences that nurture faith for children, parents and grandparents alike.
•
Envision and direct faith formation for children, youth and families, developing and equipping leaders for faith formation ministries pre-school to high school.
•
Serve as the lead planner and primary facilitator of confirmation-aged (middle school – 9th grade) faith formation ministry, working in partnership with the senior pastor to develop program parameters.
•
Develop and coach high school ministry leaders to strengthen relational youth ministry and to meet youth where they are, taking their lead on how best to support faith formation in preparation for young adulthood.
•
Lead worship and preach for Sunday morning and seasonal worship services as assigned. (This pastor will preach and preside for approximately onefourth of Redeemer’s planned worship services.) Preside for weddings and funerals as needed.

Serve as the pastoral liaison to the Children, Youth and Family Ministry Committee, and other ministry teams as assigned.
•
Communicate regularly through electronic media, monthly newsletters, weekly bulletins, special announcements and mailings to support faith formation and keep families informed about upcoming opportunities.
•
Serve as the Redeemer liaison to Lake Area Discovery Center (LADC) Preschool. Seek opportunities to connect with preschool families and build a cooperative partnership to benefit LADC and Redeemer families.

Ordination for the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the ELCA Master’s Degree in Divinity 3-5 years of ministry or education experience (ordained or non-ordained), preferably in the areas of confirmation, family, youth and children’s ministry Strong preaching and teaching skills Passion for nurturing faith development in families and people of all ages Ability to plan and facilitate confirmation classes, family programs, Bible studies, youth retreats and other programming as needed Ability to recruit and train adult and teen volunteer ministry leaders Strong organization skills and a capacity for providing leadership and oversight to multiple programs Creative thinking skills and the ability to design creative programs and create inviting environments for families, youth and children Strong communication and media skills, including social networking media and Microsoft Office products Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and lay leaders A spirit of adventure and a sense of playfulness
