To promote quality patient care and privacy, the Department of Health and Human Services is providing financial rewards to medical facilities based on the quality of care provided, not the quantity of patients treated. This increased emphasis on the quality of patient care provides an opportunity for hospitals to positively impact their HCAHPS score. By zoning staff pages and nurse calls, hospitals are able to cost-effectively create the quieter facilities they need in order to positively impact their funding opportunities.

CREATING AUDIO ZONES FOR MORE RELEVANT MESSAGE DELIVERY Biamp’s remote control capabilities allow facilities or AV/IT managers to quickly and easily rearrange the zoning via an intuitive software interface. Hospitals become quieter and more efficient because pages go to designated zones instead of throughout the entire facility. Zoning prevents messages from playing inside or near patient rooms, which decreases the length of their stay, and increases the quality of their healing.

NURSE CALL INTEGRATION PACKAGE HELPS CREATE QUIETER HOSPITALS VIA ZONED PAGING Biamp Systems is a leading provider of healthcare AV systems, and has created the Nurse Call Integration (NCI) package specifically for hospitals. The NCI package enables a direct connection to a new or existing supported Nurse Call system. Once a message is sent, it goes through the system and is assigned a zone and level of priority. From there, the audio of the message is streamed over the Ethernet network, and plays over the existing PA system.

It is important to note that emergency messages automatically receive priority over less urgent messages. The messages received by the system for PA playback can take the forms of speaking into a microphone, hitting a button at the bedside or a nurse’s station, and by selecting a preset message (prerecorded evacuation and life safety messages, for example) from a digital switchboard.
