Hours of Work:

Part Time 10 hrs per week To develop and maintain the Students’ Union website. To liaise with other departments to develop specifications. To design and develop external websites. To generate and optimize web graphics.

Role Summary:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: This role is accountable for: A. Being an engaged member of the Students’ Union team and driving an inclusive, positive and high-performing culture across the Students’ Union; B. Maintaining the Students’ Union website C. Identifying and developing opportunities for system improvements. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Main Duties         

To work alongside the Digital Development Co-ordinator in the maintenance of YSJSU.com To work with Students’ Union staff to generate specifications for website development To offer advice to staff around how to utilise the platform for campaigns & services To maintain the YSJSU.com website, ensuring all content is up to date Ensure that the site follows industry standards and follows current website and related trends To develop subsites for campaigns or key Students’ Union events To produce analytical reports on the usage of the Students’ Union website to create a data driven development cycle To design and develop websites for external clients as required To produce, copy and proof read existing content

2. Learning and Development   

Attend training courses / sessions where needed to ensure YSJSU stays up to date in its digital practices Train other members of staff in relevant front & backend systems Suggest any technical advancements that may further the goals of YSJSU to the Digital Development Coordinator

3. Data Analysis:  Utilize data to create interactive reports for individual staff members and departments  Produce custom reports on data to specification  Create hypothesis and data insights to improve business operations and data usage to support data centred workflows

4. Working Process         

Receive task requirements, gathering a brief from Digital Development Co-ordinator Working to a deadline to produce results Prioritise key tasks with student engagement at the core of all tasks Liaise with Design and Communications Co-ordinator to develop new layouts and graphical elements Regularly audit the website and utilise research to develop content efficiency Keeping up-to-date with software developments from our supplier(s) as well as the industry Research new developments that could aid in the workflow of the Students’ Union, how they can be implemented and the timescale required To develop analytical reports to analyse user flow and efficiency, reacting to trends presented To provide staff and student support on errors and troubleshooting, working efficiently to ensure any newly raised issue is resolved within a timely manner

5. Other Duties         

To attend conferences and training events as may arise To fulfil other duties & work on other projects as directed by the Operations & Events Manager Any other duties as may be reasonably required Ensure that the highest standards of professional performance are maintained Promote equal opportunities in the work of the department Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory codes of practice, as advices Participate in the arrangements for performance review Ensure that professional skills are regularly updated through participation in training and development activities Ensure all Students’ Union policies are implemented within the remit of this post

Undertaking a degree at York St John University within a relatable subject (e.g. Marketing, Graphic Design, Front End web development)

Knowledge of web based UI/UX, with a focus on mobile first
