ALOHA COUNCIL PROUDLY HONORS

ROBERT P. HIAM

Retired President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hawai‘i Medical Service Association

Bob Hiam’s commitment to our community and successful 43-year career with Hawaii’s most-experienced health plan attest to his leadership, a value shared by the Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America. Bob retired from HMSA in late 2012, leaving a legacy of leadership, innovation, and service to our community. He started at HMSA as a management trainee in 1970 and rose steadily through the company. He was promoted to president in 1995 and provided strong and steady leadership for HMSA during his

17-year tenure as president and chief executive officer. Over the years, Bob has contributed his time and expertise to a variety of professional and community organizations. He served on the boards of the Aloha Medical Mission, Aloha United Way, Blood Bank of Hawaii, Children’s Discovery Center, D.A.R.E. Hawaii, and The Filipino Community Center, Inc. The proud University of Hawaii graduate is an avid UH sports fan and served as chairman of the UH Foundation and on the Shidler College of Business Advisory Council. We are proud to honor Bob with the Hawaii’s Distinguished Citizen of 2013 award and thank him for his years of leadership and service to our community.
