TESTIMONIALS

The San Rafael Leadership Institute was a great way to meet other aspiring leaders and learn more about the relevant issues that we all face. I really enjoyed being part of the Class of 2014. I made some great friendships and work partnerships. The Chamber staff really did a great job keeping the program interesting and fun, plus great field trips! I highly recommend the Leadership Institute to anyone who lives or works in Marin. Tom Adams, City of San Rafael After learning and seeing so many aspects of how this County works, I feel much more connected to Marin. I’d recommend the Leadership Institute to anyone in the non-profit or business community. Dolores Cordell, Attorney The San Rafael Leadership Institute was a fantastic experience! I have lived in Marin County for over 20 years and I think that I learned more about our community in the last nine months than I had in all of those 20 years. The speakers and locations that we visited were diverse and thought provoking. However, like every experience, the people that you share it with can make all the difference. This was a wonderful group of people. I would recommend and have recommended the Leadership program to anyone that wants to know more about our beautiful county and wants to connect to others who do too. Debra Armstrong, Renaissance Marin I have been delighted with my experience and the opportunity to participate in the San Rafael Leadership Institute. As a resident of Marin County, it’s been insightful to have an opportunity to “peek” behind the curtains to truly discover how our local resources come together to make this a vibrant community. Most importantly, having the opportunity to participate with other leaders from the community gave all of us a true sense of teamwork, commitment and communication, as we pulled together for our community service class project. Thank you to the Chamber for providing this opportunity to the local business community! Lorenzo Jones, The Employers Edge

WHAT IS THE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE? The San Rafael Leadership Institute, sponsored by the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, offers a singular opportunity to develop leadership and team-building skills while learning about current issues that impact Marin County residents and businesses. The program brings together many of Marin’s key policy makers and offers participants the chance to begin their own relationships with the key stakeholders of the County.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE THE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE? At the heart of the program is the opportunity to experience a group of dynamic, diverse individuals from many industries and disciplines. Team-building is a critical component of the Institute’s leadership development philosophy. In addition to planning the class project, the class participates in exercises that demonstrate different leadership styles and many come away with a better understanding of the forces creating community change. Many graduates have told us that they are surprised to learn so much about Marin, even though they have been residents for many years or for their entire lives.

WHAT IS THE CLASS PROJECT? Each class will conceive of and carry out a class project. The skills achieved in this group setting, which include leadership vision, facilitated debate and decisionmaking, are geared to assist future leaders in mastering collaboration and collective problem-solving.
