Hello Customers, What a relief! Spring is finally here. I hope you had a great season last year. Retail sales seemed to be strong for most lots. Some Twin Cities lots reported stiff price competition, but most customers recognized and appreciated quality trees and made their purchasing decisions based on more than just price comparisons. They know that quality trees require special care from harvest, right up to the point of sale. Big box retailers are not equipped to provide the kind of care and knowledgeable staff necessary for that kind of commitment. I heard of one big box store customer who was very dissatisfied with a Fraser fir he had purchased last year. He bought a second tree from someone more knowledgeable about trees and their care and told that retailer that he wouldn’t make the mistake of picking a tree based on price alone—again. But we know that price remains an important factor in every tree purchase so despite our rising costs, we are determined to keep our prices at last year’s levels. Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to offer our customers the extra tree discount that you have enjoyed in the past. We’re sorry. Last year we began streamlining our operations and using emails to stay in touch with our customers. These emails prevented some costly mistakes and we hope to continue using them. However, if you are not comfortable using emails, please let us know. Place your order early. I know that you might not be thinking about Christmas trees on a hot summer day, but if you place your order by August 1st, you will be helping us serve you better. We begin tagging trees for harvest in August and greening is finished before school begins. You can always adjust your numbers in September. But early ordering helps us control our expenses and keep our prices in check. In addition, we have very limited quantities of some varieties. Ordering early helps us, satisfy you, our customer.
