Senior Adult PROJECT IDEAS

Organize a barbecue in a local neighborhood to feed children who participate in the free lunch program during the school year. Organize a school supply collection for a local neighborhood.

Get a team together to give free haircuts to lower-income kids before school starts in the fall. Work in the Grow-2-Give community garden located at Lutheran South. Joint Women’s Ministry event or one day in-house retreat with St. Trinity/South St. Louis. Host an art camp for adults with St. Trinity/South St. Louis. BG Donate items and help with hospitality for Addictions Acadamy training at local area churches through Committed Caring Faith Community. Organize a group to make “lap-tied quilts” for long-term care facilities. Make cards for area long-term care facilities’ residents to mail to others and/or make cards and deliver with notes to residents. Host a bread-making class and collect monies for any area food pantry. Host a cooking class on healthy meals for the community.

Organize a group of people who sew to make small totes for walkers. Donate to long-tern care facilities. Make bereavement outfits for grieving parents who lost a babies at birth. Organize a group to make sympathy cards for crime victims. Assemble care packages and/or write cards and letters to deployed military. Organize a group to make blankets for Nurses for Newborns. Assemble hygiene kits for the clients of Nurses for Newborns. Identify an older or handicapped person in your neighborhood, take them to the grocery store and out to lunch or send them flowers with an expression of encouragement and Scripture thought. Once a week/month reach out to an elderly, lonely person in your community and read Scripture to them/share a devotion. Purchase a large-print devotion book or Bible so they can read along. Collect and assemble hygiene kits for homeless children, and adults through St. Patrick’s Center. Host a health education presentation. Volunteer at a neighborhood VBS.

Organize a group of knitters/crocheters to make prayer shawls for those in hospice.
