Saint Arnold Brewing Company, located just north of downtown Houston at 2000 Lyons Avenue, is Texas’ oldest craft brewery. Its small crew does everything at the brewery: brew the beer, filter the beer, keg the beer, bottle the beer, sell the beer, and drink the beer. For the Saint Arnold’s team, it’s a passion, not a job - and they believe that this comes through in the beers they make. “Our beers have soul.” Saint Arnold’s Beer Garden & Restaurant has a very interesting menu, with a suggested beer pairing for every item! They also have wine and non-alcoholic drinks on the menu. All are welcome! Call Tammy Allyn for reservations by March 9 at 832-816-6254.

Bob Chapman Celebrates 100 Years!

Sunday, March 17

Bob Chapman was born March 5, 1919, in Minneapolis, MN, coincidentally in the same hospital as his future wife, Marilyn. The families did not know each other, and Bob and Marilyn were introduced by mutual friends in Tulsa, OK, where Bob had graduated from the University of Tulsa. They were married in First Presbyterian Church in Tulsa in 1957 and moved to Darien, CT, where Bob was employed by Standard Oil in New York City. In 1966 they came to Houston with Humble Oil and Bob spent his career in the oil business. They were pleased to welcome daughter Jean Ann into the family after being told they could not have children. Jean Ann lives in The Heights, and Bob has a large extended family in Texas and spends much time with them. The Chapmans lived in Houston from 1966 and travelled to all 50 states and seven continents during their long marriage. They joined Venturers in its early years when Harry Adamson was still at MDPC and enjoyed many interesting programs and trips with the group. Some of those trips included Copper Canyon in Mexico, a Panama Canal cruise, and the World’s Fair in Quebec, Canada. Bob lives comfortably among other MDPC members at the Buckingham Retirement Center where he sings with a choral group and socializes often. We offer him a hearty HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY!
