O How I Love Jesus #63

We welcome Paul Longgrear who was raised in Arkansas. After two years of college, he went to California to seek his fortune. He was drafted in the Army in 1965 and married the love of his life, Patty, in 1966. They have three children and seven grandchildren. Paul went in to fulltime Christian ministry in 1973 and has pastored four churches, taught in prisons, and he and Patty spent three years on the mission field in Israel and the Ukraine. He has a Masters Degree in Christian Counselling and teaches at Valley Rescue Mission with the Cross Roads program for men. He is retired from full time ministry but fills in teaching and preaching as needed. We welcome Rev. Dr. YoLanda Jones-Colton, or “Pastor C” as she is affectionately called. She is the Senior Pastor of The Greater Smith Chapel UMC in Pine Mountain. She was raised in Hissop, Alabama and is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a B.S. degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work and a graduate of Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. She was employed with the State of Georgia Department of Human Services as a Social Worker for 30 years. She is a powerful and supportive force beside her husband and college sweetheart, Gregory, and the proud mother of an adult son, Gregory “Myles”. She, along with her son Myles, founded L. E. A. P. Inc., (Learning Ethics And Professionalism) a not-for-profit organization in Newnan. Pastor YoLanda is a Part-Time Local Pastor in the North GA Conference of the UMC. She has served on the Board of Laity, the Board of Ordained Ministry and as the District Director of Lay Speaking, the CF& A Board and the District Superintendency committee, she currently serves as the President of Local Clergy in the LaGrange District, The Board of Ordained Ministry, Clergy Effectiveness Committee of The North Georgia Conference, Black Church Development and as a Preaching Mentor at Licensing School. Pastor YoLanda is a member of the NAACP, Black Clergy Women Fellowship and Black Methodist Church Renewal. She accepted her call into the ministry on May 15, 2005 and was appointed the first female pastor of White Plains UMC in July 2006, as the first female pastor of Smith Chapel, Newnan on June 23, 2013, on June 25, 2017 she became the Servant Leader of The Greater Smith Chapel in Pine Mountain, Georgia. A woman on a mission to impact and transform this present world into the Kingdom of God, her cool, quiet demeanor fall away when she steps up to the pulpit and lets the word of God come from her heart.
