A Special Welcome to our Guests We are so glad you have joined us today. We invite you to complete a visitor card from the pew rack and share it with us by dropping it in the offering plate or bringing it to the guest table in either the Welcome Center or Front Door Foyer following the service. Also at the guest tables, we have a church mug for you which will provide you a keepsake of your visit, and tell you more about the ministries of First Baptist. Worshipping with Children First Baptist desires to come alongside families as they raise their children to be all God is calling them to become. Several resources are available to aid your family as you worship together. Children age 3 and under may be dropped off on the 1st floor prior to the service to be part of our Preschool Extended Session, designed specifically for them. Pagers are provided to communicate with parents in case of an emergency. All children are invited to the front of the Sanctuary for a children’s sermon during the service. Children age 4 - Kindergarten are invited to attend Passage, our children’s worship experience, following the children’s sermon, or to remain with their families in the service. All Children are invited to worship using a children’s bulletin, which can be picked up at the entrances. Becoming a Member If you want to know more about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, feel free to talk with any of our ministers or most anyone in the pew. During our time of response you are welcomed and encouraged to come to the front of the church to meet with a minister to request baptism or to join the church. Our ministers will also be available following the service at each exit, or you may call the church office to request an appointment with any minister during the week. Restrooms are located in the hallway directly behind the choir loft. Hearing devices are available in the Reception Office courtesy of the Senior Adult Ministry. You can watch our 11 am service live each Sunday morning on FOX 43 or livestreamed at fbcknox.org. You can watch a replay of the service on Community Television each Friday at 4 pm or anytime at fbcknox.org.

Where Charity and Love Prevail Hymn 264, Stanza 1

Where charity and love prevail, there God is ever found; brought here together by Christ’s love, by love are we thus bound. With grateful joy and holy fear true charity we learn; let us with heart and mind and strength now love Christ in return.

Lord, open to us the sea of your mercy, and water us with full streams from the riches of your grace and the springs of your kindness. God is here! As we your people meet to offer praise and prayer, may we find in fuller measure what it is in Christ we share. Here as in the world around us all our varied skills and arts wait the coming of the spirit in to open minds and hearts.

Hymn 267, Stanza 1

Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above.

Organ Postlude

Mamie Sullivan O for a Thousand Tongues (Variations) arr. Robert A. Hobby

God’s command to love each other is required of every one. Showing mercy to another mirrors His redeeming Son. In compassion He has given of His love that is divine, on the cross sins were forgiven, joy and peace are fully thine. Let us love our God supremely, let us love each other too; Let us love and pray for sinners ‘til our God makes all things new. Then He’ll call us home to heaven, at His table we’ll sit down. Christ will gird Himself and serve us with sweet manna all around.

whom shall I fear, of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army besiege me, though war break out against me, my heart will not fear.

They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it.

One thing I ask, one thing I seek of the Lord: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.

They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His dwelling; and He will set me high upon a rock. Then shall my head be exalted above my enemies round about me; I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” *Responsive Reading 266

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. *Hymn of Response 278

The Lord Is My Light by Craig Courtney

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear, of whom shall I be afraid? Though evildoers assail me, when adversaries attack me, they stumble and fall. The Lord is my light and my salvation;
