If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . SOLO: ”I Am His and He Is Mine”. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . arr. P. S. Jones Loved with everlasting love, led by grace that love to know; Spirit breathing from above, Thou has taught me it is so. O this full and perfect peace from His presence all divine; In a love which cannot cease, I am His and He is mine. Heaven above is softer blue, earth around is sweeter green; Something lives in every hue Christless eyes have never seen! SERMON PRAYER OF COMMITMENT

The Hour of Glory

The paraments for the CityServe conference are a deep, rich red, adorned with large, burning flames embroidered in three shades of gold thread and outlined with gold metallic stitches. This signifies the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples to give them power to take the Gospel to the world. The flames represent the tongues of fire which came to rest upon each of them. The red color of the cloth itself also represents fire. Three leaping flames are sewn in gold silk thread upon each Bible Marker.

Sunday Night Worship

His forever, only His; who the Lord and me shall part? Ah, with what a rest of bliss Christ can fill the loving heart! Heaven and earth may fade and flee, first-born light in gloom decline, But while God and I shall be, I am His and He is mine; But while God and I shall be. I am His and He is mine.

Also, don’t forget about the CityServe Food Drive! Food pantries in our city are at very low levels and the need for food is escalating. Join us in collecting basic food items as well as some special requests for refugees in our city. A list of needed items can be found at www.2pc.org/cityserve. We will be accepting items after the service this evening.

Weekly Focus on Mission Partners

World Missions: When he was eleven years old, Juan Patt accepted Christ as his Savior. Soon after, he was certain of God’s calling to devote his life to preaching the Gospel and planting churches in his home country of Belize. After high school, he went to seminary in Merida, Yucatan, and graduated in 2000. Juan’s wife, Maria, has just begun a new job teaching accounting and other business courses at Cornerstone Presbyterian High School (a half hour from their home). Juan asks for our prayers as he studies for an October licensing examination. He was recently blessed to be invited to preach at Providence Church. He and Maria send warm greetings to the people of Second.

MissionUSA: We welcome our ministry partners who are in attendance at our worship services this morning. We also thank our conference committee and volunteers for participating and helping with CityServe weekend. Please pray that the conference has opened the hearts of many to continue serving in our city.
