Thank you for your support of Webster Christian School! We look forward to a rewarding school year! 675 Holt Road, Webster, NY 14580 . Ph: 585-872-5150, x223 . webstercs.org

From TheAdministrator’s Desk: Once again the summer has flown by and the start of a new school year is knocking at the door. I trust you have had a great summer time with family and friends. Everyone here has been very busy getting ready for opening day and I am very thankful for the many returning and new families who have selected WCS as their academic home. We live in an uncertain economic environment, which has a strong impact on us, but God is on the throne and has provided us what we need to support our programs. As you receive this newsletter, the fall sports programs will be underway. Pastor Jay Riggleman will again be leading the Section V Champion Boys Varsity Soccer Team. The girls Varsity Soccer team will be led by both Mike Belles and his very capable son Zachary. Zach is a graduate of WCS and is going to be a great leader and teacher of soccer for the school. We are also pleased to announce Miss Heather Lagoe will be taking on the coaching responsibilities for the girls Varstiy Volleyball program. Heather has been a great supporter of the school. Her daughter has been attending the past 3 years and Heather has much experience in the playing and coaching of girls volleyball. When you enter the school you will see the building has again been updated, cleaned and painted. The textbooks arrive each day and even though the building is undergoing changes, we can be sure of God’s never changing character, His presence, and His love for His people. We are excited about a new program being evaluated in the high school. We have been praying for a teacher to handle the Physics program for the year, but God saw fit to direct us in a different direction for this coming year. Physics for our incoming 11th grade has been moved back to the 12th grade and we will be instituting a new Life Science Course, for this year, through the Answers in Genesis Organization. This program will have 4 sections covering more scientific study in Biology, Geology, Astronomy and Theology from a Christian Worldview perspective and will include training from an apologetics perspective to help the students defend their faith in these and other areas. Dr. Joe Butler, our HS Bible teacher will be leading this study, facilitating this on-line instruction. Also, after a one year absence, Pastor Dan Mantz will again be engaged in the school by teaching the High School Consumer Math class and leading a revised MS/HS chorus program. So, as we begin year 38 of WCS, please keep us in prayer. As always, our desire is to support your needs as best we can and honor the Lord in our labors. We continue to pray that we will see the students grow in their relationship with Christ and that many students will also come to give their lives to Christ for this is our greatest desire. Thank you all again for your support and we look forward to what the Lord will do in every life that enters the halls.

Elementary Corner

The Kindergarten class could use the following items (slightly used is fine):

- Washable markers - Small sized Lego sets - Crayons

Tuesday, September 2nd is “Bring Your Stuff Day”. Elementary students may bring in school supplies before school begins, if they wish. You may not see the teachers as they are often at meetings, however the classroom doors will be open. Just leave your bag of supplies labeled with your name on it.

Internships and/or Career Observation Opportunities.... Are being requested for our 12th grade high school students. Seeing a professin first hand can convince or persuade a student in their life’s calling and the earlier this is established the better for the student and family alike. If you, or your firm, offer opportunities for individual students to observe or shadow specific professions of interest, please contact the school administrator. Areas of interest include: business, retail, engineering, health professions, accounting, trades, physical therapy, sports training, sales, law, graphic design, just to name a few. Possibly one or two visits could direct a student to an area of interest for college and career selection. Our desire would be to match a student’s interests with local businesses and then coordinate time for the student to visit. So if this is an area you might help with please let us know.

SEPTEMBER: Just a reminder that most everything we learned about preventing infectious diseases we learned from our moms & dads. Wash Your Hands, Cover Your Mouth & Nose When You Sneeze, Throw Away Your Tissues Promptly and then Wash Your Hands. Influenza(the flu) is usually in season from October through March. Remember it is easily transmitted through the air(ie sneezing) & close personal contact. Cold & Flu viruses can linger on doorknobs, telephone receivers and other surfaces. It is important to wash your hands frequently & try to avoid rubbing your eyes & nose or putting your hands around your mouth. Regarding colds/flu here are some guidelines to use in determining whether your child should stay at home: - Fever greater than 100.4 orally. - Child is too ill, sleepy or lethargic to sit all day in school. - Severe headache, especially if accompanied by a fever(contact your health care provider) - Severe sore throat, with fever or lethargy, lasting longer than 48 hrs. REMINDER: If your child has had a throat culture for strep, he may NOT be in school until the resutls are known. If your child is diagnosed with strep, he MUST be on antibiotics 48 hours before returning to school.
