The Gospel Anticipated Luke 18:31-33 March 25, 2018 31And

taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. 32For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. 33And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.”

Main Idea: Jesus Christ clearly and willingly gave himself to the work of redemption. Jesus goes up to Jerusalem to accomplish what the prophets declared. •

Jesus goes up to Jerusalem fully anticipating the horror that awaits Him. •

he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. after flogging him, they will kill him, Mark 14:43-46, 62-65 Matthew 27:24-31

33And

Jesus goes up to Jerusalem to give Himself as the offering for sin. •

...they will kill him, o John 1:29 o Isaiah 53:6, 9-10

Jesus goes up to Jerusalem knowing that He will rise again. •

...and on the third day he will rise.” o Acts 2:22-36

So What? Am I trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation? • Acts 2:37-39 Am I anticipating the fulfillment of the Gospel? • Revelation 1:7-8
