Genesis 1 The Good News of God’s Creation February 19, 2017

the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Good News of the Sovereign Creator •

Isaiah 40:9-14

He speaks Creation into existence • “God said...and there was”   •

“God said...and it was so” °

Psalm 33:6, 9

He purposefully creates • Days 1-3  He brings order to formlessness (v. 3-13) •

Days 4-6  He brings fullness to emptiness (v. 14-31)

He creates man in his image. (v. 26-30)

Good News of the Good Creation •

“And God saw that it was good.”
