SERMON PREP GUIDE APRIL 1, 2018 READING GOD’S WORD Luke 24:36-49

DISCUSSING GOD’S WORD 1. How did Jesus approach the disciples and why were they afraid? (v. 36-37) 2. What evidences did Jesus give to prove he was not a spirit? 3. What does this passage teach us about God’s role in our understanding the gospel? 4. According to verse 47 what did Jesus say would be the result of His resurrection? 5. What was the “power from on high” to which Jesus referred to in verse 48? How do you know that to be true?

APPLYING GOD’S WORD 1. What are the doubts and fears we see in our lives and in our world that Jesus’ resurrection speaks peace into? 2. Jesus knows that his disciples are troubled and doubting and how does he respond? Does Jesus still respond to us in the same way? 3. Who does Jesus tell them to share the gospel with and where should it start according to verse 47? How is this reflected onto our lives? 4. In what ways should we be encouraged to share the gospel, knowing that the Holy Spirit is with us and working in others?

PRAYING GOD’S WORD » Ask God to give you opportunities and boldness to share the gospel this week. » Praise God for the hope we have in eternal life through the resurrection. » Confess your doubts to Jesus asking him to help you in your struggles. » Give thanks to God that he hasn’t left us powerless in this dark world, but that he has given us the Holy Spirit.
