Server System Requirements You should only be concerned with the server system requirements if you are intending to host Fewzion within your private cloud. Even if you intend to host Fewzion yourself, given the choice, we recommend that you first get your instance setup on the cloud, and then only if it proves problematic (e.g. poor network performance, corporate policy, etc.) you look at migrating your dedicated instance on the cloud, to your private cloud.

Minimum Server Requirements 

   

6 GB of RAM o 2 GB Operating System o 2 GB RavenDB (Database) o 2 GB IIS (Fewzion Web App Server) 2 GHz dual core 10 GB of free disk space (1GB Program Files + 9 GB Data folder, inc logs & backups) Disk I/O: o Response rates of 50 MB/sec for writing and 100 MB/sec for reading o Latency should be no higher than 15ms Windows 2012 R2 64Bit

A server with the above configuration will cope with serving a single instance of Fewzion, however under average peak load of 3 concurrent users (i.e. server handling 3 concurrent requests in any one second) performance will be noticeably impacted.

Recommended Server Requirements 

   

12 GB of RAM o 4 GB Operating System o 4 GB RavenDB (Database) o 4 GB IIS (Fewzion Web App Server) 2.6 GHz quad core 10 GB of free SSD disk space (1GB Program Files + 9 GB Data folder, inc logs & backups) Disk I/O: o Response rates of 100 MB/sec for writing and 200 MB/sec for reading o Latency should be no higher than 7.5ms Windows 2012 R2 64Bit

A server with the above configuration will comfortably serve a single instance of Fewzion, with any foreseeable spike in concurrent usage (i.e. server handling 10 or more concurrent requests in any one second) without noticeably impacting performance.

Principals behind the above recommendation 

Plenty of free RAM will keep virtual memory to a minimum, and hence minimal swapping of memory to disk

 



Multiple cores leverage Fewzion’s multi-threaded architecture to handle concurrent usage without noticeably impacting performance Plenty of disk space enables extended logs and index files retention and reduces frequency of server maintenance from months to years. Enterprise SSDs are generally very reliable, which reduce downtime in the long term and are noticeably faster than previous HDD technologies Windows 2012 enables Fewzion to leverage exciting new IIS features such as WebSockets and Application Initialization, both of which improve perceived performance

Access to Your Server Fewzion’s support team requires Administrator/root level access to your Windows server via Remote Desktop or equivalent, so that we can remotely manage your Fewzion site.

Access to Cloud Services Fewzion uses a number of cloud services to manage its licensing, release cycle, centralized monitoring, file conversions and support.

Service URLs All of the following service URLs (including all subdomains) must be accessible to the server and the client devices (e.g. desktops, tablets, smartboards, smartphones, etc.) that will be accessing Fewzion, in both HTTP and HTTPS protocols       
