Introduction to the role The School of Counselling is seeking expressions of interest from Academic Teachers to teach in 2016 across the following areas: counselling, psychotherapy, coaching and social science; and Clinical Supervisors to supervise counselling students in small groups. Academic Teachers and Clinical Supervisors are engaged on a sessional, term by term basis by the School of Counselling. Classes are delivered on-campus, by blended delivery and online. Blended delivery involves online teaching with synchronous webinars, and weekend intensive workshops on-campus (one Friday/Saturday workshop per unit). Academic Teachers and Clinical Supervisors provide a high level of interaction and involvement with the students in small classes. The School provides texts, course readings, curriculum and support, mentoring of teaching practice, and supervision for clinical supervisors. Essential Skills & Experience Masters or higher qualification in a relevant discipline Relevant professional experience and eligibility for relevant professional membership Minimum two years’ teaching experience in higher education with evidence of positive evaluations, OR Minimum two years’ experience in supervision Demonstrated commitment to the development of an effective learning culture. A willingness to participate in the School of Counselling’s Professional Development activities. Valid working with Children Check. Desirable Skills & Experience Membership of the Society of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators Australia Inc. (SCAPE) (for counselling and psychotherapy teachers only) Synchronous teaching and facilitation experience using BlackBoard Collaborate, Zoom or similar web conferencing software.
