Sessional Lecturers - Health Sciences (Medical Classification) /Health Information Management Sydney CBD La Trobe University Sydney Campus is operated by Navitas on behalf of La Trobe University, offering Foundation Studies, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. The Sydney campus is housed in new premises under a renewed ten year agreement between Navitas and La Trobe University. La Trobe University Sydney campus is looking for suitably qualified sessional teaching staff to teach in the following area of the Bachelor of Health Sciences/Bachelor of Health Information Management: 

Human Biosciences

Background:

Human Biosciences is taught in alignment with the University’s Digital Learning Strategy. The College is committed to developing and retaining the best possible teaching staff. The College is seeking to recruit an experienced and dynamic teaching staff member to facilitate one, two-hour lecture + two-hour workshop per week in 2018 Study Period 1 (and/or 2), commencing 5th March, 2018. The staff member will not have coordination or significant administration responsibilities but will be expected to provide academic support to first year undergraduate students in this subject. Duties may include: 

Facilitate pre-designed workshops for a small student cohort under the guidance of the Subject Co-ordinator.



Mark assessments and undertake academic administration connected with the subject in which the academic teaches.



Attend meetings associated with the subject (i.e., induction, teaching team, marking moderation) and professional development courses provided by the University.



Undertake other duties commensurate with the classification and scope of duties of the position as required by the Subject Co-ordinator.

Additional: All Facilitators will need to become familiar with using the Moodle Learning Management platform. Arrangements will be in place to learn this (and the Enquiry-based Teaching & Learning methodology) before the start of the relevant Study Period.

Essential:



Completion of a Bachelor and Honours degree, or postgraduate qualification, in a discipline relevant to the unit



Demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching in interprofessional practice, psychology, sociology, evidence-based research practice or allied health disciplines.



Demonstrated understanding of effective teaching methods and pedagogies.



High level oral and written communication skills.



Demonstrated ability to work as a team member with people from diverse backgrounds in a collaborative and collegial manner



Demonstrated high levels of self-motivation and personal management skills.

Desirable: 

Graduate Certificate in Higher Education or evidence of equivalent professional preparation for HE teaching.



Prior teaching at a first year level undergraduate level.



Experience with Turnitin and the Moodle Learning Management System.
