Essential Skills & Experience • Tertiary qualifications at the postgraduate level (preferably PhD), and equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline area. • Degree in Education/Teaching or equivalent professional experience • Demonstrated ability and experience in delivery of classes within a tertiary level education environment. • Demonstrated experience in contributing to the development of scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Overview and Objectives of the Position:

Seasonal academics will have a teaching role and will contribute to providing high quality programs by ensuring their teaching program is coherent in design, planning, management, delivery and assessment. This incorporates responsibilities for academic quality assurance, and teaching (and where relevant, unit supervision). 2. i.

Key Relationships:

Key Result Areas: Oversee the development of teaching and learning materials within relevant units. Ensure quality assurance for courses of responsibility including reporting on course outcomes, via the Academic Manager. Undertake teaching for a nominated unit within a relevant course. Liaise with the administration staff regarding student assessment and moderation, at-risk students, record keeping, academic misconduct, etc. Provide advice and assistance to students on academic matters relating to their unit, and refer students to relevant support staff as necessary. Contribute to and participate in professional development programs- teaching and learning, Technology in Teaching, etc.

Decision Making/Authority to Act: The seasonal academic provides decision-making in the day-to-day management of the delivery of units of their responsibility. Seasonal academics receive advice and recommendations on the management and delivery of the units of their responsibility, from the Academic Manager, Academic Programme Manager, Subject Supervisor and Subject Moderator as required. If nominated as Subject Supervisor: • Supervise nominated courses including taking responsibility for course oversight, unit delivery and the management of teaching staff in liaison with the Academic Manager. • Liaise with teaching staff within relevant units where relevant regarding student progress and specific problems being encountered by students. • Liaise with La Trobe University academic personnel with respect to matters of curriculum oversight, including course and unit changes, unit outlines, assessment and quality control of specified courses and ensure comparability of learning outcomes, curriculum and assessment practices with relevant La Trobe University courses.

Tertiary qualifications at the postgraduate level/PhD and professional experience in a relevant discipline area. Demonstrated ability and experience in delivery of classes [lectures/tutorials] within a tertiary level education environment. Demonstrated experience in, or potential for, contributing to the development of scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and participate equitably on collaborative work tasks or project teams.

Desirable • • • •

Experience working in a multicultural education environment. Knowledge of undergraduate and postgraduate programs at tertiary level. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff in order to gain support in working together to achieve positive client service and work area outcomes. Currently undertaking scholarly research
