SFC BUSINESS RETREATS Sustainable Food Center invites you to join us for a unique team engagement opportunity that creates a social impact for our community! We are proud to offer the following team building experiences and meeting space opportunities for local businesses that are interested in providing a worthwhile experience for their employees while giving back. All proceeds from these offerings support our programs and efforts to improve access to nutritious, affordable food for low income residents.

Host your next team meeting or retreat at SFC! Why book a sterile hotel meeting room when you can experience a unique and inspiring space and give back to the community in the process? You can book a full or half-day meeting at SFC and learn about our programs with a hands-on or demo-style cooking class and a tour of our teaching garden and apiary. SFC’s solar-powered, 4-star rated green energy building offers an open-concept meeting space and a fully functional commercial kitchen, with capacity of up to 75 people. And, best of all, all proceeds support our free programs and efforts to improve access to nutritious, affordable food for low-income residents and communities facing health disparities and food insecurity in and around Central Texas. Hands-on Cooking Class Class time: 2-3 hours, with a full meal Working together in teams, participants prepare a meal using recipes from The Happy Kitchen cookbook. Recipes feature local, seasonal produce and ethically-raised meats. Happy Kitchen instructors will be on hand to instruct and assist as needed. Includes meal for participants to eat on site and printed recipes to take home. Menu designed to encourage participants to try new foods and choose healthier options. Vegetarian and Gluten-free options available by request.

Cooking Demonstration Class Class time: 1 hour Instructor will prepare one recipe and provide taste-sized samples. Learn practical nutrition information related to recipes being made. Participants will receive a printed recipe to take home. Recipes feature local, seasonal produce and ethically-raised meats. Recipe will encourage participants to try new foods and choose healthier options. Vegetarian and Gluten-free options available by request.

Tour of JP’s Peace Love & Happiness Foundation Teaching Garden at Sustainable Food Center Tour time: 1 hour. Visit SFC's site for gardening classes, school and summer camp field trips, volunteer work days, group tours, and drop-in visits. Located adjacent to SFC, the Teaching Garden demonstrates sustainable food gardening techniques that are well suited to Central Texas' semi-arid climate. Includes stops at Children’s Sensory Garden and Teaching Apiary where children and adults can learn about honeybees. Produce harvested from the Teaching Garden is used in The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre® classes, sampled by visiting children and volunteers, and donated to local food pantries and shelters. Tour is designed to highlight SFC’s Grow Local program, mission

and sustainable food gardening practices.

GROW. SHARE. PREPARE SFC cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food. SFC envisions a food secure community where all children and adults grow, share and prepare healthy, local food. From seed to table, Sustainable Food Center creates opportunities for individuals and institutions to participate in a vibrant local food system. From hosting interactive cooking and food gardening classes to promoting business for local farmers, we strive to empower Central Texas residents to improve their long-term health and food security.

Rental Rates Availability: Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm; after hours, evenings and weekends for additional fee Hourly = up to 3 hours Half day = up to 4 hours Full day = more than 4 and up to 8 hours For rentals longer than 8 hours, additional hourly rates will apply Category A Use "A" rates apply to businesses and professional organizations. Events may or may not be open to the public.

Category B Use "B" rates apply to individuals and public sector agencies. Events may or may not be open to the public.

Category C Use "C" rates apply to non-profits. Events may or may not be open to the public.

Note: SFC policy prohibits renting our space for cooking classes/demos, programs and events that compete with our own, or any use that conflicts with our mission. "A" Community Room: capacity 35
