Small Group Discussion Questions January 17-23, 2016 Luke 10:25-37 Group questions related to our head (our beliefs, our convictions, the truth we hold onto, our world view) 1. Eternal life is not something we can earn by doing (Eph.2:8+9). The lawyer before Jesus uses the word “inherit”. How many ways can you identify that receiving an inheritance parallels the idea of receiving eternal life by grace?

2. Choosing to enter into the messiness of another’s tragedy can be overwhelming. What kinds of tragedy tend to make you feel overwhelmed and hesitant to get involved?

Group questions related to our heart (what we’re becoming, our character, our attitudes and motivations, what we love, value and treasure) 3. Read 1 John 3:16-18; 4:20+21 and James 2:14-17. How do these verses connect the two commands to love God and love others?

4. The key to our response to another’s tragedy is compassion. How have you seen the Lord deepen your compassion for others? What events or circumstances did he take you through that changed you?
