Small Group Questions 1. What did you learn from this weekend’s message? 2. Share a time when you loaned something you owned to someone else. Did they bring it back to you in better condition than they received it? How freely did you let them borrow it? Did you give them a list of rules surrounding the use of that item? Did you value and care for it more than they did?

Message by Pastor Tim Kuhl Part 9 of 12 :: March 2-3, 2013 :: God is Owner Message by Pastor Tim Kuhl :: Part 8 of 9 September 22-23, 2012 :: Love God, Love Others

3. We say that God owns everything, but do we really believe that? Does God own the stuff that belongs to non-believers? Think of a famous rich person… do you normally think of God owning that person’s stuff? What difference does it make if you believe it or not? 4. Read these verses and list everything the Bible says that God owns: Psalm 24:1, Leviticus 25:23, Haggai 2:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Deuteronomy 8:18, Psalm 50:7-12, Proverbs 22:2,1 Chronicles 29:11-16, Deuteronomy 10:14, Psalm 82:8, and Psalm 95:4-5. 5. Read Matthew 6:25-34 – God owns such an insignificant bird, yet has concern for it – how does this change your perspective on God’s ownership of the things in your life? 6. The prophet Jeremiah complained to God about wicked people prospering (Jeremiah 12:1-4). Do you ever get frustrated that bad people often seem to have lots of good things? What should we do about those frustrations? 7. Why is it so hard to trust God with your possessions, with your finances, or with your job? What things have you learned to do that actually help keep your focus in the right place in thankfulness, contentment, and trust? 8. Everything you own or value could be taken away in a very short amount of time. How does that make you feel? Is there a way to reduce your anxiety over things? Is there a way to stop holding on to “our stuff” so tightly? 9. How do you know if you are holding on too tightly to the stuff God owns that He has let you borrow for a while? How does recognizing that God is the owner of everything change your perspective about your things... or does it?
