SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

DATE: 12/9/2015

WELCOME & ICE BREAKER It's Christmas time! What are some fun things you guys do during the Christmas season to celebrate with your family or friends? (cookie decorating, getting a tree, going to holiday parties, visiting grandparents, etc.)

RECAP OF SERIES & LAST WEEK’S MESSAGE (READ OUT LOUD) Last week, we kicked off our Images series with a message about God as our potter. We learned that potters make things out of clay, and even had a real potter come on stage and show us what that's like. From that image of God as our potter we learned that God knows us and God can mold us. Our job is simply to let God mold us in our daily lives. Joelle closed with a challenge to us to ask God every day this week to mold us into the person he wants us to be.

QUESTIONS TO DISCUSS THE MESSAGE 1. Have you ever made anything out of clay? (If not clay, maybe Play-Doh?) 2. What things do you have to do to clay or Play-Doh in order to get it into the shape you want it to be? 3. Read Isaiah 64:8 together and ask these questions: a. How is God kind of a like a father? b. How is God kind of like a potter? 4. Do you like or dislike the idea of God molding and shaping your life? Why? 5. What might be the benefits of God shaping your life? 6. What do you think might happen if you don't allow God to be a part of shaping your life? 7. Do you think God ever gets frustrated or gives up on us as he is shaping and molding us? Why or why not? 8. What are some ways that we can show God that we are WILLING to allow him to mold and shape our life like a potter shapes the clay?

WHAT’S HAPPENING TONIGHT? Tonight, we will be studying another image that helps us learn about who God is, even though we can't see him. Can you try to guess what the image will be tonight?

COMING UP IN GROUND ZERO Just one week from tonight is the Festival of Festiveness! We'll join about a thousand other middle school students for the most epic Christmas party ever. Let's invite some friends to come with us to this event. It's totally free!
