and Macintosh versions (Windows 3.1, NT, and 95; and Power PC, FPU, and NoFPU)) The software was evaluated on a 266-MHz Pentium operating under Windows 95. StatView includes the most common statistical functions, including descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, regression, ANOVA, pareto analysis, and factor analysis. Plotting capabilities include univariate and bivariate plots, box plots, and cell plots. Quality-control plots can also be made. The program efficiently handles large data sets and can import various file types from other programs. Several examples accompany the program and an extensive tutorial in the manual familiarizes the user with the program's capabilities Analyses can be developed for one data set and the template can then be aoolied to other data sets The data analysis and displav plots are easily exported to other proerams

For example, I could copy a data set for candy bars, which was included with the program, into a Microsoft Word document with just a few keystrokes. The only drawback to this program is that it is strictly a statistics package. For example, multiple regressions and nonlinearfitsthat are of interest to analytical chemists are not included.
