SOUTH AFRICA MISSION TRIP September 2018 Deadline to Register - June 15, 2018 Join this exciting team as they reach out to bless communities affected by HIV/AIDS in Durban, South Africa. We will join hands with one of OCC’s partners iThemba Lethu which means “I have a destiny”. Their vision is to restore destiny to orphaned/abandoned babies and children, and pre-adolescent school learners whose futures are at risk of being negatively impacted by the effects of HIV/AIDS. iThemba Lethu has developed a peer-to-peer leadership program for 13-18 year olds in their community and we’ll get to be a part of that! We will also get to experience some real Christian hospitality from our friends at Glenridge Church, who will be hosting us in their homes, sharing life with us and showing us around their city!
MINISTRY PROJECTS
Youth Leadership Camp: The team will participate in planning & facilitating a leadership camp for 250 youth! Before and after the camp we will also have the opportunity to pour into the youth workers for encouragement, mentorship and support.
Ministry with Glenridge Church –The team will be involved in helping to support the ministry of Glenridge church, equipping their youth ministry, praying for their city, loving their neighbourhood, and helping them to build their congregation through various external ministries/charities within the church body.
ESTIMATED COST: $2,600* ($900 + Airfare) A $200 deposit is due on June 15, 2018. Final payments are due on Aug. 15, 2018.

FUNDRAISING We encourage team participants to do personal support raising to pay for the cost of the trip. You will be guided on how to do this in our training meetings, but if you already have some ideas, go ahead and start now! ACCOMMODATIONS & FOOD We will be hosted in homes of members from our partner church, Glenridge, enjoying some authentic Christian hospitality. South Africans have a robust theology and practice of the “ministry of the dining table” – you’ll be blown away at the depth of community that is formed through partaking in this hospitality.

[email protected] I love people! My two favorite people are my wife of 10 years (Leah) and our son (Sailor). I’ve been a pastor at Overlake for 8 years and some of my favorite memories in ministry include trips with Overlakers to Chile, India, Kenya and soon… South Africa. On a personal side, I love endurance sports and have done marathons, the one-day STP, the Fat Salmon swim and the Ironman. In the mornings you can find me doing some bird-watching at Juanita Bay with my son and Springer Spaniel. I’m stoked to see what God will do in and through this team!
