3 Little Birds 4 Life will be celebrating the courage, determination and spirit of individuals during the most challenging times of their lives at our 6th Annual Jamdown Rockas Gala on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at River City Casino in St. Louis, MO. The Jamdown Rockas Gala brings the fun and flair of the islands to St. Louis all while supporting the wish granting efforts of 3 Little Birds 4 Life. 3 Little Birds 4 Life is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of young adult cancer patients, ages 18-40, with any type of cancer at any stage. Along with granting wishes, we provide resources and support to assist in all aspects of their cancer journey. Since 2012, 3 Little Birds 4 Life was able to grant more than 300 wishes. Below are just two examples of wishes that were granted because of the money raised at the Jamdown Rockas Gala:
Meet Elgin Elgin not only has down syndrome, but also renal cell carcinoma. It was his Wish for an experience with the Kansas City Royals. He was able to meet the players, go in the locker room, and stay in Kansas City for a weekend of fun in a beautiful donated home.
Meet Amy Amy is a 38 year old Mom of 2 beautiful kids, who has colorectal cancer. It was her Wish to travel to Buffalo, NY to reconnect with friends and family. With the help of social media, and many others, we were able to connect Amy with several new people while in Buffalo who helped with setting up family pictures, gift cards, movie passes, groceries, and so much more.
The Jamdown Rockas Gala features dinner, dancing, island fun and a fund-a-wish live auction. Jamdown Rockas means Jamaican music to rock to and enjoy. This supports the ideology behind the name 3 Little Birds 4 Life and provides an enjoyable, relaxed setting for our attendees. A sponsorship level sheet is enclosed for your reference. Although some aspects of these wishes are donated, there are still many things we cannot afford to cover the costs of, in order to make their wishes come true. Along with granting wishes we provide resources and support to assist in all aspects of their cancer journey. Founder Ashley Swip created 3LB4L in honor of her brother Guy “Tyler” Gifford. It was through all of the treatments, surgeries, and the final stages that she realized that Guy, at 28 years old, needed to have one more great day doing the things that he loved. In the endeavor to make Guy’s final wishes come true, she quickly realized that it’s hard work. After many hours of hitting dead ends, a lot phone calls, emails, and Internet searches, Guy was granted an experience of a lifetime with the World Champion St Louis Cardinals – to sit in the press box, meet the announcers, and go on the field before the game during batting practice. While the experience was truly amazing and unforgettable, it was also an eye-opener. There needed to be an organization that could give young adults, currently managing cancer, the opportunity to get away from it all. Our organization cannot function without the generous donations of sponsors, cash donors, and donated goods and services from industry professionals.
