Welcome to our spring newsletter Hello and welcome to your new look newsletter. As you flick through the pages you will notice that the newsletter has become bolder and brighter with bigger pictures which we hope you enjoy. We would like to hear your feedback so please do let us know what you think. There has been lots happening in our journey and we have some really exciting things to come like our new Junior Club which opens at the beginning of next term. We have run some successful fundraising activities within the last term including sponsored walk, a swimathon, a quiz night and a market stall. But we can’t stay still and it’s important to continue the funds to ensure we can provide the very best service including activities and equipment. This term we have provided more activities where we have welcomed outside providers to run activities. These have included Singing Hands, Malookoo Dance Fitness, a caricature artist and line dancing instructor. We are always looking at ways to improve our offer, so please share your thoughts with us. We held our first YPB (Young People’s Board) elections in April and I am pleased that the young people have elected three board members. Our Annual General Meeting will be held at Ham Youth Centre on Monday 26th June. Please do join us and hear in more detail about our work. And lastly thank you all for your support over the last few months it has been very much appreciated.

Charity We are a local charity which is registered with the charity commission. ( (Charity No.1170534)

New Year After Party We started the year as we mean to continue with an evening full of fun and energetic activities. Our New Year After Party included our usual disco with loads of singing and dancing, plenty of party games including our favourites, musical chairs, musical statues, musical bumps and of course pass the parcel, all with prizes galore. We had a pot luck supper and as always it was a feast fit for a king! If that wasn’t enough we finished the evening outside in the garden area, where we lit some sparklers.

Sweaty Antics With many of us indulging in chocolate and other treats over the festive period it was time for a Club New Year resolution!

You’ll Be The Judge The evening included various drama and role playing activities with participants taking part in the Trestle mask workshop and enjoying the ventriloquist masks.

This year we plan to improve our physical activities and to kick start we ran a fitness session with a personal trainer.

Art Attack A night jam packed with creative activities. The evening included colouring in our logo in vibrant colours and we saw some new designs. We designed images using coloured wax and melted the wax using hair dryers. Drawing and colouring, cutting and sticking our own pictures and collages and lots more. In the kitchen we made cakes and then decorated them while in the hall we made faces using different chopped fruit and veg.

Take Me Out Generation Game Life is the name of the game and I want to play the game with you. Something for the mums and dads there! Back to the present day we held our own version of the show. Games consisted of a giant buzzer game, blind folded cake decorating and candy floss making. Each round was scored and the winner was given the opportunity to win prizes from the conveyor belt including sweets, crisps, a bottle of shampoo, washing up gloves and a cuddly toy! All that’s left to say is didn’t they do well!

No likey, no lighty! Our valentine activities this year included our version of Take Me Out and a disco. Everyone received a single red rose upon arrival to give to their valentine. Those who were lucky to win a date during our main activity were treated to a glass of bubbly and the lucky ladies received a bunch of red roses. We also made red and pink heart shaped peppermint creams.

Ye Ha Howdy partners! This year we built our very own 3D barn for an action packed evening of activities for our Ye Ha themed night. Lots of young people dressed up in their cowboy and girl costumes and it was very hard judging the best dressed in our competition. Activities included a very popular line dancing class which was led by a professional instructor and behind the barn we had our own mini desert where young people took part in a lassoing game.

Pancake Mayhem We enjoyed an evening full of pancake themed activities including making and eating pancakes. We held a pancake flipping competition and some races.

Cartoon Chaos We welcomed a professional artist for this year’s Cartoon Chaos. Everyone went home with their own caricature. We also watched and drew our own cartoons.

Telly Teasers

Always a popular evening in our calendar is our Telly Teasers evening where we take part in various television game shows. This year we added the Wheel of Fortune to our line up alongside our usual favourites Deal or No Deal, Bullseye and our Grab A Grand. Participants really enjoyed jumping around and grabbing as much flying money in the allocated time. We found just enough time to fit in a few rounds of bingo before the end of the session. The evening finished with a few rounds of bingo.

Young people attended our Crazy Fashion evening in their chosen outfits. They enjoyed preparing for our catwalk including styling their hair and practising their poses. Once ready it was time for the show and our models walked down our long catwalk in style with each model giving the audience three poses.

Crazy Fashion

During the evening we also designed our own fashion range using body shaped card templates.

We decorated plant pots before planting some Lupin plants in them. In the kitchen we made some cheese bread with fresh chives and added seeds on top.

If that wasn’t enough we found time to play a few rounds of mini golf.

Battle Of The Bands During our Battle Of The Bands night we made musical instruments in the art room and decorated them with pens, pencils and stickers. Many also branded with the TAG logo. In the main hall we listened and danced to music. Everyone enjoyed singing with the inflatable microphones and ‘playing’ the inflatable instruments. This year we formed a staff band who provided us with some live music.

Knight To Remember Our Knight To Remember was certainly a night to remember as those attending came dressed as commoners, knights, ladies and other noble spectators. Participants dressed up in armoured padding and Knight costumes before mounting their horses (this was an activity by itself!). Our knights charged each other wielding their lances (though what seemed to be in slow motion!). Each Knight was given three goes at competition against their rival. There was a prize purse of chocolate coins for the victor. Young people also enjoyed taking part in our archery session where we used suction padded arrows and darts. Young people had a choice of either using a traditional bow or a crossbow gun. One young person hit a bullseye.

We had a cracking good time during our Easter Madness activities. This year it was held on Good Friday which made the evening even more special.

Easter Madness

We made (and ate) chocolate nests, made and decorated various art and craft items and obviously took part in an Easter egg hunt.

Best Of British With the bunting above our heads and the waving of hand flags we enjoyed an evening full of fun with a British theme. The hall was transformed into our very own street party, young people danced and sang to the music during our disco and socialised over a plate or two of food! In the art room young people designed their own bunting.

TAG Has Talent With the return of Britain’s Got Talent to our screens on Saturday nights it was our turn to bring back TAG Has Talent. We had acts that could be described as good, bad and ones we would rather forget! This year we asked young people to attend with a more varied range of acts to perform rather than the traditional singing acts which normally grace us each year. This year we had dancers, musicians, poetry and story tellers and a energetic twerker.
