Two and Three-Year-Olds 10–11 a.m., Jones Building, ground level, room 102 SPARK lectionary-based curriculum is used in the Childcare Center classroom, helping our youngest learners experience church as a nurturing, caring place. Before/ aftercare sessions reinforce the lectionary-based lesson through music, art, and play.
Three-Year-Olds through First Grade
Danielle Fanfair (Jan. 13) Danielle Fanfair specializes in helping people move from confusion to clarity in their spiritual lives. She is well known in the Houston area for her enneagram and other workshops, and she is the new Executive Director of the Hines Center for Spirituality & Prayer. Come and hear her exciting vision for the Hines Center.

Forward Movement (Jan. 20) The Dean’s Hour welcomes Rachael Jones and Hugo Oliaz from the Forward Movement to speak on this organization.

Annual Parish Meeting (Jan. 27) Come hear the “State of the Cathedral,” elect new members of the vestry, and recognize one parish member for a lifetime of service. So then what?: Religious Understanding of the Afterlife (Feb. 3–Mar. 3) What happens when we die? Dean Thompson will lead us through conceptions of the afterlife in Christianity and the world religions as we imagine what lies next when we enter what Episcopalians used to refer to as “larger life.”
Christian Meditation 10–11 a.m., Dean’s Conference Room Learn and practice a form of prayer taught by Jesus. This class, open to all, includes teaching, meditation, scripture, and prayer.
The Loricae — Ancient Celtic Spiritual Defense 6–7:30 p.m., McGehee Conference Room Join Andrew and Christin Lazo, experts in Anglo- and Celtic-Christian traditions, for a closer look at the ancient art of poetry as spiritual defense. (Jan. 13, 20, and 27. Childcare is available.)
Christian Mysticism, A Primer 6–7:30 p.m., McGehee Conference Room Have you ever wondered what God looks like? Or sounds like? Or smells like? What does it mean to seek and then seek to describe a real, visceral encounter with the Almighty? This is, in a word, “Mysticism.” Join Canon Callaham for the three-part discussion of the history of Christian Mysticism, its roots, its flourishing, and its current state. (Feb. 17, 24, Mar. 3. Robert C. Stuart Lenten Series
Cathedral Godly Play curriculum is used as a foundation for our early learners. Each week, a biblical story is shared in community with an opportunity to respond individually through art materials or story manipulatives.
Second through Fifth Grade Our older elementary learners deepen their spirituality through the SPARK Rotation curriculum, where they are invited to explore the same biblical story over multiple weeks through a variety of sensory workshops: art, science, bible knowledge, games, cooking, videos, drama, and more.
The Lighthouse Classroom 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. by appointment, Jones Building basement Children with special needs are invited to learn and worship in a safe and welcoming place with their express learning needs in mind.
Niños 1–2:15 p.m., Meet in the Cathedral Young children (ages 3–6) explore the history of our salvation through the interactive curriculum Godly Play. Older children (ages 7–11) learn the key stories of the Old Testament.
For Youth
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 6:30–8 p.m., in parishioner homes Middle school (seed) and high school (root) groups meet weekly for dinner, fun, and small group discussion that takes a deep dive into questions about faith. (Tuesdays for middle school and Wednesdays for high school).
Faith and Society Wednesdays once per month, 6:30–8 p.m., McGehee Conference Room Participants engage in serious and lively conversation about Holy Scripture, faith, and society. The conversation style ensures all voices are heard and respected. Registration required. (Wednesdays on Jan. 16 (required attendance), Feb. 20, Mar. 20, April 17. Childcare is available.)
Cathedral 20s & 30s Wednesdays, 6:30–8 p.m., Ballard Youth Center (Treehouse) Cathedral 20s & 30s offers opportunities for young adults to explore ways to integrate their faith and life experiences in the context of a supportive community. This ministry strives to connect Episcopal young adults throughout the Houston area and to offer programs that equip them for ministry in their respective parishes through fellowship, faith formation, service, and fun.
Buscando la Luz The last three Wednesdays of the month, 6:45–8 p.m., Mellinger Room Experienced group facilitator Amarilis Vargas Bautista leads a series of conversations in Spanish that weave the elements of faith into discussion.
The Dean’s Book Club Wednesdays once per month, 6:30–8 p.m., McGehee Conference Room This group discusses a different book each month, including novels, nonfiction, and books on spirituality and faith. Titles are chosen by the group and published in the monthly The Bulletin newsletter. (Meets Jan. 2, Feb. 6, Mar. 6, Apr. 3, and May 15)

Drawing on the thoughts and experiences of local, regional and national thinkers, the series will plumb not only the biblical and theological meanings of Resurrection, but will also explore several ways in which Resurrection is experienced on this side of the grave.
This popular, five-part series meets once per month in several locations around the city. This spring, Canon Callaham explores just how easy it can be to say something wrong about God.

Wright Professor of Theology, Yale University Divinity School, Miroslav Volf is a Croatian Protestant theologian and public intellectual who has been touted as “one of the most celebrated theologians of our day.” Sunday, April 7 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Theologian Miroslav Volf Brigid’s Hope provides services to women ages 35 and older who are in transition from incarceration to self-sufficiency by providing housing, mentoring, spiritual support, and coordination of other relevant resources.
