PREACHER B’S BE-ATTITUDES I am happy to report to you that the church approved all the recommendations that were included in The Messenger last week-the Caspar, Wyoming Mission Trip funding, helping First Baptist Church, Mt. Holly as they rebuild after a fire and the India Mission Trip funding. As we said last week, we are excited about these recommendations, because this is Florence Church at our very best. Let’s make these trips and our sister church matters of prayer in the weeks and months to come. We are also excited about our Wonderful Wednesday Programs during the month of May. All the Preschool and Children’s Choirs will sing this Wednesday night during the Prayer Meeting time at 6:30 in the LEC Gym. Wednesday night’s program will be the culmination of another great year of Preschool and Children’s Choirs. We invite you to sign up for the Wednesday Fellowship Supper (Reservations needed by Noon on Tuesday.) and then support and enjoy the choirs at 6:30. We are grateful to all of our choir leaders who work with our children each Wednesday evening September through May. We are also grateful to parents and grandparents for getting the children here on Wednesdays. And we are grateful to Scott Haynes for his leadership in this wonderful program. All the children love Mr. Scott, and we do too! So again, we hope you will join us this Wednesday evening, May 8, during the Prayer Meeting time at 6:30 in the LEC Gym as our Preschool and Children’s Choirs sing for us.
Even as we are looking forward to the choir program, we are also excited about the Mother’s Day Mother-Daughter Tea this Saturday, May 11, from 2:00-4:00 in the LEC Gym. Tonya Garrison does a wonderful job of planning, organizing and preparing for this wonderful event each year. At present, we have over 80 signed up to come. What a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day! So as Tonya says, “Girls, come dressed in your best Tea Party attire!” It will be a great time there is no doubt! This brings us to Mother’s Day worship! We will have our normal morning schedule with First Light, Sunday School and Salt and Light. The sermon for Mother’s Day is “A Great Question” based on Luke 1:57-66, 76-80. The Scripture tells of the birth of John the Baptist and includes the question, “’What then is this child going to be?’” What a great question to ponder on Mother’s Day as we think about and pray for our children and grandchildren and even our greats! Please keep in mind that we will not have Sunday Evening Worship or Activities on Mother’s Day in order to give all of us time with family and friends. Have you marked your calendar for Sunday, May 19? We will have First Light, Sunday School and Salt and Light, but please note that at Salt and Light we will ordain David Cox to the Gospel Ministry. We will have much more to say about this next week, but please note this on your calendar and plan to attend. Preacher B
