Navitas is seeking to employ an experienced Sr. Staff Accountant to join our North American team in Boston, MA. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing daily and monthly accounting records. Preparing and maintaining an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the company and its businesses. This individual, under the direction of the finance manager, ensures procedures are followed and recommends improvements, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives, and serves as a resource in all aspects of accounting. This individual ensures that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures. Strong accounting background and practical accounting experience are required.

Key Responsibilities 

Develops financial statements, closes book accurately and efficiently, and identifies opportunities to improve processes through automation, standardization, etc.



Prepare monthly account reconciliations for all businesses.



Assist in the preparation of monthly journals.



Ensure the compliance with internal control measures by establishing or upgrading control policies.



Adheres to compliance requirements in line with organization's tax policies.



Responds to audit queries and adjustments with supporting documents.



Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation for all statutory filings.



Provides support to auditors and other relevant stakeholders during audit process.



Develops and integrates budgets for multiple functional areas.



Analyzes budgets for patterns and drivers of errors.



Monitors and communicates budget performance against pre-set targets.



Ensures alignment between operating budget and strategic plan.



Breaks down a complex problem into simpler and manageable tasks.



Asks questions that lead to identification of root causes of the problem.



Expresses the impact of problems in financial terms.



Generates multiple options to solve a problem and systematically identifies the most effective solution.



Effectively delegates authority, responsibilities, and tasks.



Works with diverse stakeholders and builds strong, collaborative relationships. Manages competing agendas and priorities across different functional departments.



Demonstrates the capacity to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities while remaining calm and controlled.



Champions diversity by ensuring that opportunities are distributed fairly across a global team.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience •

Minimum of 3 -5 years of full cycle accounting experience;



Bachelor’s Degree and CPA Designation;



Experience in managing an accounting team;



Demonstrated knowledge of a broad set of accounting principles and techniques, accounts book keeping, financial analysis, and cost accounting;



Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and its applications in accounting, budgeting, and finance;



Possesses knowledge of audit procedures;



Excellent organizational and analytical skills;



Excellent written and oral communication skills;



Strong work ethic and integrity;



Effectively communicates with colleagues in a multicultural, multinational environment;



Demonstrated capacity to be a team player in an entrepreneurial environment;



Ability to build a team and provide leadership;



Professional image and forms good partner relationships across functions;



Knows when to "say no" to low value requests from the business;



Valid passport and ability to travel internationally and domestically;



Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work for long periods of time at a workstation or desk, and must be able to remain in a stationary positon up to 75% of the time. The person in this position frequently communicates with students and staff, and must be able to converse with others in an exchange of accurate information in a clear and concise manner. The employee will need to occasionally move about inside the office and around partner campus locations to access files, and interact with students and other staff members. The person in this position constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as copy machines, projectors, and phones. The employee may be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds such as boxes of supplies or event merchandise. The person in this position will frequently review student or staff documents and must be able to detect detail and transfer information as needed to internal systems.
