St. Paul Lutheran School Summer Camps 2016 St. Paul Lutheran School is proud to announce our first comprehensive summer camp program. Students who have completed kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to join us in a variety of activities and classes designed to make the summer fun and exciting.

Camps will begin on Monday, June 13, and go through Friday, August 19. Each camp runs for one week. Camp is available from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with child care provided when camp is not in session (see below). You may register online at school.stpaulannarbor.org/summer camp. Please note that some camps also require registration through the sponsoring group’s website (e.g., Bricks 4 Kidz, Power of Drawing), which is indicated in the description and on the registration forms.

We anticipate that all camps will fill up quickly. Classes will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis so plan to register early. Payments will be non-refundable unless a class is cancelled due to insufficient registration. There will be no make-up classes due to student absence. If you have questions, please contact Rachel Potts at [email protected]. Enjoy your summer!

EXTRA CARE Additional child care will be offered to campers outside of the class times. Before, lunch, and after care will be available for an additional cost during the times between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm when camp is not in session. The cost for extra care is $4 per hour per child and will be paid for the full week.

2016 Curriculum

Epic Park™ Children gear up and design zip lines, water flumes and hi-tech eco-gear! Ed Venture and Angel Investor need their help to develop the latest and greatest tourist attraction because the dynamic duo just purchased Epic Park, located on a beautiful island filled with rainforest areas, waterfalls, sandy desert stretches, steep cliffs and rolling hills that all lead down to the ocean. Angel and Ed—who happen to be crazy about all things adventurous—are looking for innovative thinkers to team up and pitch their most cutting-edge designs for the future of Epic Park. Participants will sketch up their best blueprints and clean green energy designs that will win over Angel and Ed for the chance to be Epic Park co-owners and operators all while exploring principles of entrepreneurship and physics.

CrickoBot™ In CrickoBot, children will make and adopt their very own DIY robotic cricket powered by the sun! Your child will create cricket-inspired inventions and outsmart motorized spider predators, build cricket-sized tire swings and trampolines and explore the science of sound by investigating how crickets chirp. Friends challenge one another to a Chirp-Off, where they play their musical instrument inventions. CrickoBot merges STEM concepts and real-world challenges as children explore biology and use their own ideas to create new insect-inspired innovations.

I Can Invent: Maker Studio™ Your child will repower the motors, gears, lights, fans and components found in broken machines to make their own innovations in the Maker Studio! If inspiration is needed, children can spin the Inventor Challenge Wheel to hear a video challenge from National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees and Collegiate Inventors Competition Finalists and Winners. Everyone spends time exploring the science of 3D printing and tinkering with circuits to get their wheels turning in a new direction as they prepare to make The Next Big Thing!

The Lab: Where Pigs Fly™ Your child will explore demolitions, coding, squid, slime and sound-activated lights in The Lab: Where Pigs Fly and anything is possible! Children see themselves as scientists, programmers and biologists testing out more than one dozen experiments in the Camp Invention Laboratories. Every day there are exciting new challenges; from demolition and cup tower explosions, to programming and coding, to the chemistry of polymer slime and spinning disco ball circuits. Investigation and discovery are the key ingredients to fun in the ever-changing Lab: Where Pigs Fly and anything is possible! 7
