Social Committee Update

Year End Report

The responsibility of the Stage Run Beautification Committee is to assist the Board in suggesting plant life and flowers for the common areas, and to organize neighborhood cleanup events.  This year the Beautification Committee organized two clean up events, one in the spring and one in the fall.  At both events, volunteers introduced themselves and enjoyed donuts and coffee before beginning the cleanup activities.  The common areas including the pool, park, basketball court, soccer field, and entrance areas we worked on.  Debris was removed and any damage was reported to the HOA Board for repairs.  We also removed many of the dead trees and brush from the “wilderness” area near the park.  There was a sense of camaraderie and a good time was had by all.        The committee is also working to have shrubs added around the dumpster at the pool.  This will hide the dumpster from view for users of the pool and park areas.        A big thank you is due all volunteers who have assisted though out the year.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Keep in mind that volunteering for our neighborhood cleanups can count towards service hours for groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and National Junior Honor Society.  Upcoming events for 2011 include our spring and fall cleanups.  Look for dates in future copies of this newsletter.  If you are interested in volunteering with the Stage Run Beautification Committee , please contact Bill Vogl at [email protected].

Stage Run Annual Halloween Party was a huge success, a large attendance of residence came and enjoyed the food and contest. We had Velma from Scooby Doo and very frightening battered football players, a beautiful Flamingo dancer, and Lara Croft Tomb Raider amongst many awesome costumes. We also had a very creative pumpkin carving contest to include a beautiful Cinderella Coach which took first place. The kids enjoyed a bounce house and bobbing for apples with lots of prizes which everyone received something. Our most recent event was Our Christmas Lights/Decoration Contest. I want to thank my good friend Patrick and Kathy for helping to serve the Hot Dogs and Nachos and for all of my judges for helping with contest. And a special thanks to the resident that helped control kids during the judging of the costume contest. (Please call me to help with future events :}) Also thank those that signed up for Social Committee to help with future events.

Stage Run Reporter Recipe of the Month



Picante Sauce







Ingredients • 1 lb. peppers (bell, banana, & jalapeno; according to how hot you want the sauce; the seeds of the jalapeno peppers add a lot of WARMTH!) • 3 onions • 3/4 C sugar • 3 qts. tomatoes • 4-5 cloves garlic • 1 C vinegar • 2 T salt Directions Scald tomatoes and peel. Quarter and place in large pot. Chop peppers, onions, and garlic; and mix with tomatoes. Add sugar, vinegar and salt. Simmer slowly several hours until the sauce is the desired consistency. Pour into sterilized jars. Close and invert to seal. (I pressure mine for 5 minutes at 5 # pressure.)
