POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Student Services Coordinator FULL OR PART-TIME: Full Time SUPERVISOR: Student Services Manager PERMANENT/CASUAL: Permanent NO. SUBORDINATE STAFF: Nil _________________________________________________________________ Position Purpose: The Student Services Coordinator will assist the Student Services Manager to efficiently and effectively manage the operations of the Academic Department in the delivery of ICM’s teaching and learning services, assisting students to engage in the learning community and to develop generic academic skills and strategies for independent, lifelong learning This role encompasses academic advising and incorporates responsibilities for the delivery of student communications and the collection and analysis of studentrelated data. __________________________________________________________________ DUTIES: 1.

Assist the Student Services Manager in all areas of the academic unit, ensuring students have a smooth transition into the College and the University.

2.

Engage in one-on-one advising of ICM students.

3.

Assist in all matters associated with student welfare, including course advice and academic performance, and ensuring access to appropriate referral and advocacy services.

4.

Assist with the implementation of programs and services which promote the well-being of students throughout their studies.

5.

Promote a customer-focused culture which provides positive experiences for students that prepare them for university.

6.

Assist the Student Services Manager with preparation of orientation and graduation ceremonies.

7.

Assist with the implementation and monitoring of programs and services which assist with the development of study skills, including: • Support tutorials • Peer tutoring



Student mentoring

8.

Assist in preparation of academic reports, as required, including on key issues such as student progression, student/class performance, and students at risk, with recommendations for improvements in product/service delivery.

9.

Undertake administrative duties associated with the delivery of programs including, but not limited to: • Student course selection policies and processes • Academic misconduct/student appeals • Academic Probation • Student Satisfaction Survey

10. Work with other members of the academic team to ensure end of term progression is managed on tight timelines. 11. Ensure enrolment issues are thoroughly tested and that enrollment for new and returning students runs smoothly. 12. Assist with the development of new programs to support the growth of ICM. 13. Assist with front desk management. 14. Other duties as required. __________________________________________________________________ SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential: 1.

A degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.

2.

Experience working in a higher education environment.

3.

Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate with a wide range of people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

4.

Understanding of academic expectations and the difficulties faced by students undertaking post-secondary studies.

5.

Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.

6.

Demonstrated leadership and coordination skills required to manage all functions of a busy office.

7.

Ability to organize and prioritise multiple issues/tasks in a fast-paced environment.

8.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.

9.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

10. Ability to plan, develop, promote, facilitate, monitor and evaluate learning programs or events. Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement. 11. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, internet and intranet technologies, particularly as they apply to the effective delivery of a student-centred learning experience, and in the compilation, presentation and dissemination of reports and submissions. 12. Legally permitted to work in Canada.

Exposure to the academic needs and requirements of international students.
