he apostle Paul never visited the city of Colossae, but he had heard of the faith of the Christians there, and the challenges they faced. Confusion was growing as these believers were lured by false teaching that sounded so good, but was dangerous to their new-found faith. Paul responds by writing two warm, personal letters – one to the whole church in Colossae and one to an individual Christian leader of that church.

In the book of Colossians, Paul encourages, warns, instructs and challenges his readers, focusing on the incomparable supremacy of Christ as the antidote to the poisonous theories of man. As we study this book we will come to know the genuine Christ, the work He has done on our behalf, and the fullness of our identity “in Christ.” This will protect us against counterfeit teachings still present in our day. In the book of Philemon, Paul appeals to a leader of the Colossian church to take to heart the realities of who we are in Christ and apply it in a very real and challenging life situation. As we understand all that Christ has done for us, we will likewise be challenged to ponder, “What could be too much for Him to ask of me?” Join us for this uplifting and inspiring study of the pre-eminent Christ.
