Card Lock™, CardValet® and Digital Wallet Apps

A

s the world of banking becomes more and more digitized, Suffolk Federal is more vigilant than ever when it comes to protecting our members from identity theft, and credit and debit card hackers. We consistently employ best practices for cyber security throughout the credit union’s internal systems, through website security, and by offering products that have been vetted for their high security features. While the Card Lock™, CardValet® and Digital Wallet apps are still new to the market, Suffolk Federal has already received positive feedback from members. I hope you will take some time to explore how each app can help you tighten your credit and debit card security and provide added shopping convenience. Unfortunately, we live in a society where card numbers are stolen and users don’t often realize there has been suspicious activity on their card until multiple charges have been made. Card Lock™ and CardValet® provide real-time alerts when cards are used helping to prevent significant fraud before it starts. They both give users the ability to lock and unlock cards anytime. The apps are only accessible with a personal login, so if someone loses their phone, others cannot access their personal information. Digital Wallet lets users shop without carrying credit or debit cards, yet it doesn’t store user’s card numbers and is only able to be used by the owner of the device. Digital Wallet uses the latest encrypton technology with advanced security features to protect your cards and your idenity.

Card Lock™, CardValet® and Digital Wallet each have their own app, are easy to use and offer distinct services. Using all three apps provides an easy and secure way to shop, and lets you control and customize every transaction. These apps are an excellent way to prevent fraud and Suffolk Federal is proud to bring them to our members. Suffolk Federal is committed to ensuring the safety of its members’ information. In addition to utilizing the security measures Suffolk Federal provides, we hope our members will also be proactive in implementing measures that can protect them from becoming victims of identify fraud.

Suffolk Federal Celebrates Its 50thYear!

S

uffolk Federal opened its doors 50 years ago in the basement of the Department of Public Works to serve the local community. Since then, Suffolk Federal, with support from the community, has built a substantial presence and become one of the largest credit unions in Suffolk County.

Recently, Suffolk Federal recognized this historic milestone by hosting a fantastic Gold Celebration Party at its Medford headquarters. The event included a delicious BBQ lunch for members, friends and family, as well as fun games, activities and face painting for the children. The festivities included a special Golden Anniversary promotion with the chance to earn incredible rewards and new members were offered a $200 deposit for opening a checking account with direct deposit. In addition to all the fun, there was a special appearance by JVC Broadcasting and the Paramount Theater, which donated free concert tickets that party attendees could win.

Congratulations Eva Casale & Team Eva! Suffolk Federal’s Vice President of Information Technology and extreme distance marathon runner Eva Casale raised more than $25,000 in support of Hope For The Warriors®. Eva completed seven marathons in seven days, amounting to 184 miles. Each day’s marathon focused on honoring a local serviceman killed in action and was linked to the community they called home. At the closing event, Suffolk Federal President & CEO Ralph D. Spencer, Jr. presented Eva with a surprise check for $10,000 to support her mission.

Commack Branch Proudly Supports Local Nonprofits Two local nonprofits, Paws of War and Fountainhead Congregation, were each presented with a check for $500, to help further their missions. Paws of War trains and places rescue dogs to serve and provide independence to U.S. military veterans who suffer the emotional effects of war, such as PTSD. Fountainhead Congregation, a faith-based organization located in East Northport, provides community support services and programs for children and families. LEGO League Junior Robotics Team ®

In LEGO League, Girl Scout teams participate in robotic competitions by building mechanical robots out of LEGOs that must solve a real-world problem linked to a particular theme. LEGO League helps to build self-esteem and confidence in young women, allowing them to work together in a nurturing environment. They creatively problem-solve while developing their cognitive, social and engineering skills.
