Healthcare & Public Safety Programs Phlebotomy Technician (Hilliard Innovative Learning Campus) Tuesday / Thursday: 5:00 – 9:00 pm

April 30 - June 18 60 hours • $795.00

This course will provide a comprehensive classroom and clinical education in phlebotomy. Participants will learn the techniques, skills and equipment used for the purposes of safe and effective blood collection. The students will be expected to demonstrate the ability to obtain patients’ blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection techniques. This course includes instruction in anatomy & physiology and medical terminology, along with phlebotomy training. Following successful completion of all course requirements, students will be able to sit for the National Phlebotomy Technician exam offered through the National Center for Competency Testing for an additional fee of approximately $90.00. Requirements: Students must have a Hepatitis B immunization and two-step Mantoux (TB) screening prior to beginning the class. Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (Tolles Career Campus) Monday / Wednesday: 5:00 – 10:00 pm

Become a full-time Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) in the State of Ohio. This course meets and/or exceed the State’s certification requirements for a professional EMT-B in Ohio. The program follows the State and National curriculum for EMT-B. Students can expect a challenging classroom curriculum combined with practical hands-on training. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for the State of Ohio and the National Registry written and practical exam. This course includes 10-hours of practical, hands-on experience with local hospitals and emergency medical providers. Become a full-time Firefighter in Ohio. This course meets and/or exceeds the State’s certification requirements for a professional firefighter in Ohio. The program follows the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines for professional firefighter NFPA 1001. Students can expect a challenging classroom curriculum, combined with practical hands-on training. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to sit for Ohio’s Professional Firefighter written and practical exam. Trade & Industrial/IT Programs Industrial Maintenance Certificate Program (Tolles Career Campus) Monday through Thursday: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm --- or --Monday through Thursday: 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Gain valuable skills for the growing number of open entry-level positions in manufacturing and automation maintenance through meaningful classroom and hands-on experiences. Curriculum in this program includes: workforce safety; blueprints and schematics; maintenance principles; fittings and connections; electrical maintenance; hydraulics and pneumatics; robotics; PLCs; welding and machining. Students who successfully complete this course will receive several industry-recognized credentials, along with a certificate of completion from Tolles Career & Technical Center. Students may select to take individual classes within this program; please contact Tolles’ Adult Education Office for more information. Learn the basic techniques of shielded metal arc welding (stick), MIG and TIG, as well as burning and cutting techniques. No previous experience is necessary. Class is mostly a “hands-on” lab experience. Students must provide a welding helmet, gloves, leather boots safety glasses, chipper hammer, 10” vice grips and a stainless steel wire brush. The estimated cost for these supplies is approximately $75.00 and not included in the cost of tuition. CompTIA A+ Hardware (Hilliard Innovative Learning Campus) Tuesday / Thursday: 5:00 - 9:00 pm

In partnership with Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County (C-Tech), you can prepare to become CompTIA A+ certified technician. In these two courses you will develop your competency with PC hardware and peripherals, mobile device hardware, networking and troubleshooting hardware, network connectivity issues, installing and configuring operating systems -- including Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X and Linux, security, cloud computing fundamentals, operational procedures, and communication skills. Students who satisfactorily complete both courses will be able to sit for the CompTIA 220-1001 and 220-1002 certification exams. Textbooks are not included in the tuition cost and may be purchased from Tolles for approximately $70.00. You may also purchase the book from an independent book seller. Residents of Ohio who are 22 years of age or older and who do not have a high school diploma or GED may be able to earn their High School Diploma by successfully completing this program. In this introductory auto maintenance course, students will learn the basics of the automotive service industry and shop safety. Basic automotive care such as oil changes, tire rotation, basic brake repairs and safety checks will be covered. Automotive Maintenance II (Tolles Career Campus) Tuesday / Thursday: 5:30 – 8:30 pm

In the second course of the Automotive Maintenance series, students will explore the complexities of a car’s electrical system, suspension system and steering system. Automotive Maintenance III (Tolles Career Campus) Tuesday / Thursday: 5:30 – 8:30 pm

In the final course of the Automotive Maintenance series, students will explore advance automotive concepts including advanced engine diagnostics as well as air conditioning and heating system repair.

Community and Leisure Learning Dog Grooming (Tolles Career Campus) Tuesday: 6:00 – 8:00 pm

March 19 - May 7 16 hours • $150.00

Learn the techniques and practical aspects of dog grooming. You will learn to use different tools and techniques to make your dog look like a champion, whether you pet is pedigreed or mixed breed. Problem or aggressive dogs are not permitted in class. Students will need to furnish their own tools based on a list that will be provided on the first night of class. The first two class sessions are an orientation and introduction without dogs present. Simple Crafts with Carrie (Tolles Career Campus) Tuesday: 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Grab you friends and enjoy and evening of good times while completing a beautiful craft piece to display in your home. During each session a local artist, Carrie Woodson, will lead the course in completing one of the following arts and crafts projects. Tuition includes all materials. February 19 – Inspirational Wood Signs – Need some inspiration in your life? Learn the tips and techniques needed to make an 8” x 18” inspirational wood sign utilizing wood and stencils. February 26 – State of Ohio String Art – Make your own art project of the State of Ohio. During this class you will learn tips and techniques needed to make these beautiful “on-trend” wall hangings. March 5 – Large Decorative Paper Flowers – During this class you will learn the tips and techniques needed to make three (3) different styles of large, 18” – 24” paper flowers. March 19 – HOT Mess Art Painting – Utilizing a “reverse stenciling” technique participants will create their own “hot mess” canvas to display in their home or garden.

Admission: Admission for courses is open to anyone 16 years of age or older not enrolled in a full-time high school program. Tuition: Course fees are established to cover the operating expenses of the programs. Textbooks and supplies are included in tuition unless otherwise noted and are non-refundable. Payments: Full payment is required at the time of registration in order to reserve a spot in class. For courses with tuition of more than $500.00, payment plans are available. (Additional fees may apply.) Credit Card Payment Fees: A 3% surcharge will be added to payment made with Visa or MasterCard. Refund Policy: There are no refunds on any class of less than 300 hours. Students dismissed from the school or withdrawing at the school’s request for non-academic reasons are NOT entitled to a refund. Fees, books and supplies are non-refundable items. Persons requesting a refund for extenuating circumstances must formally request a refund in writing to the Adult Education Director. If a refund is issued, a 25% administrative fee will be charged. If the student needs to cancel registration for that class and does so in writing three (3) business days before the start date of the class, a full refund will be given, less a $20.00 processing fee. If the student cancels registration in writing LESS than three (3) business days prior to the start date of the class, but before the actual start of the class, a credit voucher will be issued (less the $20.00 processing fee).

Certificates: A Tolles Career & Technical Center certificate of completion is awarded to any student who attends 90% of scheduled classes and satisfactorily completes the required work. You will not be notified if your course will start on the day and time listed in this catalog. You will be notified if a schedule change occurs for your class, or in the event the course is canceled. Tolles Career & Technical Center reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a class is canceled, a full-refund will be given. School Closings (Due to Inclement Weather): Adult day classes will be canceled if Tolles cancels high school classes for the day due to hazardous conditions. A decision to cancel adult evening classes will be made by 3:00 pm. Listen to local TV and radio stations for information regarding closings. Registration and Payment: Registration and payment are expected two weeks prior to the start of a class. Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment.
