WEDNESDAY JULY 6, 6:00-9:00 P.M. - MARINA PARK

JOEL PLASKETT HEADLINER EMERGENCY 8:00 - 9:00 PM Joel Plaskett returns with one of the most diverse and fan-pleasing albums of his career. Proving that he can be all things to everybody, the rock veteran offers up a wide mix of styles on Joel Plaskett and the Park Avenue Sobriety Test. It touches on his solo acoustic side, his guitar rock work with the Emergency, his happy-go-lucky rhyming talents, carefree memories of growing up in Nova Scotia, and a little bit of anger at the forces making life tougher these days. There are many moments that draw on previous classic Plaskett, from beloved albums such as Three and Ashtray Rock, right back to his Thrush Hermit days. And there are new sides to his sounds as well – Joel like you’ve never heard him.

COLD LAKE SUN 7:00 - 8:00 PM Cold Lake Sun is four guys from Thunder Bay with a shared interest in politics, punning, and craft ale, who love to play music and live to perform. We blend bright upbeat, tightly crafted original songwriting with reverb-soaked ambient textures and saturnine lyrics that touch on love and loss, death and dreams, drugs and the relentless march of time. Listen closely and you might hear indie rock, new wave, spaghetti western, alt country, and power pop. It’s a heady brew to be sure, but whatever your musical predilections, we always go down smooth.

HONEST HEART COLLECTIVE 7:00 - 8:00 PM Two brothers. A flicker of fire. An insatiable need to write together and an affinity for Irish whiskey. The Honest Heart Collective was born out of a no holds barred approach to putting the music first and a rotating cast of musicians made permanent. Described as “passionate, spirited, feel-good, anthemic rock music” by Grant Lawrence of CBC.

NICK SHERMAN 6:00 - 7:00 PM Singer-songwriter, Nick Sherman, gives new meaning to “the voice in the wilderness,” or rather, the voice from the wilderness. Sherman spent much of his youth out on the land, moving between his hometown, the small First Nation community of Weagamow Lake, and his family’s trapline on North Caribou Lake. It was here in the depths of the Northern Ontario forest that his family members would play guitar as they tended their trapline, and Nick found himself soaking in songs and lyrics.
