Summer Student Lead Program Summer 2017

!1

General Structure
Director of Student Lead Team - Victor Maynard Director of Student Ministries - Michael Chinchilia The Summer Student Lead Program exists to provide leadership, ministry training and character development for grade 10-12 students. It will run for two months (July - August) with an 18 hour/week commitment. Students will be positioned in a role within a ministry department, as well as participating in a variety of classes. The program is broken down into Character, Ministry and Theology.

Character Students will engage with a chosen mentor approved by their director. They will need to meet with their mentor and run through the “mentorship questions” on a weekly basis. The goal is to build an environment of trust and openness to dialogue about the deeper struggles of life. Students will also need to participate in their daily devotional plan, journalling from the assigned passage. At the end of each week students will share their favourite devotional experience or findings in class called Two Minutes. As well, Students will participate in a devotional teaching each morning by the Interns Director and Student Ministry Director.

Ministry Students will mainly be engaged in serving in different ministry departments under the supervision of ministry leads. They will be involved in a variety of responsibilities, which provides each student with in-depth ministry training. Each week students will commit 12 hours to serving in their departments, as well as their commitment to Sunday and midweek services.

Theology In developing a student’s ability to lead, it is essential to provide a well rounded understanding of basic theology. The Summer Student Lead Program will provide three introductory courses. Each course will specialize in meeting the needs of a well equipped leader; The Bible, The Leader and The Disciple.
