Mr. Ashby passed away June 20, 2019 in Lee County, FL. He was born on September 16, 1925 in Moore County, TN to the late John Wiley Ashby and Lona Young. William was a faithful husband to his wife, Christine Deal Ashby, who passed away in 2009. While living in Fayetteville, William and his wife were members and attended Northside church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashby was preceded in death by his siblings, J.D. Ashby, Ruby Campbell, Robert Ashby, and Martha V. Bowen. Survivors include his daughter, Jo Ann (John) Purvis; grandchildren, Deirdre Michelle Purvis (Doug) and Timothy Eugene (Tara) Smith; five great grandchildren, Jaxon Purvis, Jaelyn Purvis, Cassie Kirkland, Sidney Smith and Sila Smith; great-great granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Kirkland; and numerous nieces and nephews. A longtime native of Fayetteville, Addie was known by many names around town: Mom, Granny, Nana, GG (by her great-grandkids), and friend. Addie dedicated her life to the service of others - with a career as a nurse, a passionate dedication to her church home at Liberty church of Christ, a dedication to the local Senior Center, and a smile and heart that were able to reach countless people. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wayne Beddingfield; sisters, Lucille Hopkin, Mary Honey, and Thelma Swing; and brother, Robert Smith.
