Opening Prayer Light and peace, in Jesus Christ our Lord. Almighty God, we give You thanks for surrounding us, as daylight fades, with the brightness of the vesper light; and as we implore of Your great mercy, that as You enfold us with the radiance of this light, so You would shine into our hearts the brightness of your Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prelude and Fugue in C Minor, BWV 871 Soprano Aria from St. John Passion, BWV 245 Ich folge dir gleichfalls mit freudigen Schritten Und lasse dich nicht, Mein Leben, mein Licht. Befördre den Lauf, Und höre nicht auf, Selbst an mir zu ziehen, zu schieben, zu bitten.

I follow You likewise with happy steps And do not leave You, My Life, my Light. Pursue your journey, And don’t stop, Continue to draw me on, to push me, to urge me.

Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben from St. Matthew Passion, BWV 244 Arranged for alto flute by Mark Thomas

Out of love my Savior is willing to die, Though He knows nothing of any sin, So that eternal ruin And the punishment of judgment May not rest upon my soul.

Silent Meditation and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Closing Litany Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: World without end. Amen.
