Prayer of Confession Oh Lord our helper we are people who often run to sin instead of running away from it. We fix our eyes on our own desires and pursue them recklessly with no thought of danger to our souls. We are overconfident thinking that we can resist sin only to discover that we are far weaker than we ever imagined. Sometimes we want to do good and are unable to carry it out and at other times we do not even want to do what we know is good. We love your law in theory but in practice we wage war against your law and sin against you in our thoughts and deeds. We know we are free from the bondage of sin yet we choose to live as slaves to sin addicted by our destructive habits and the things that make us feel good. Father forgive us help us to be obedient to you. May we cherish your law and may we live according to your will and plan all the days of my life in Jesus name, amen.
