Talking to the Dead: Talking to Demons Most of the world's religions teach that the soul does not die with the body. Many believe that the conscious awareness of a person remains even after the body has died. Those who have lost loved ones in death, still miss the person they knew. They still long for contact and guidance from the one who has died. In a desperate attempt to communicate beyond the grave, many turn to séances, trances, Ouija boards and mediums to contact the dead. The loving heavenly Father sought to protect His children from this danger. He clearly warned: "The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything." (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Because there is no soul-life after death, any communication in any form claiming to be from a dead person, actually comes from a demon. Satan's fallen angels are capable of perfectly impersonating the dead. How the person looked, how he walked, the sound of his voice, his exact handwriting, knowledge of personal secrets, recollection of private history - all can be perfectly imitated by a demon. The relationship between husband and wife, parent and child, friend and relative can be used by demons to entice a person to reach out to the dead. The love the living still feel for the one who has died is manipulated by demons trying to gain an opening to the mind. Encounters with demons posing as dead loved ones are extremely addictive. They feel exhilarating, exciting and life changing. Such out-of-the-ordinary encounters with demons offer the illusion of hope, comfort and "proof" that the loved one is still present. "According to a recent study by the Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion, 20 percent of Americans believe that the living can communicate with the dead. In an online survey of 10,000 . . . forty-six percent of women surveyed believed that 'the souls of the dead protect the living as spirit guides . . . .' " (L. Marcus and L. Schneider, "Talking to the Dead") A belief that the soul never dies is an open door for demonic deceptions. When you believe that the dead still have a conscious soul and can communicate with you, it allows the demons to impersonate those loved ones and communicate directly with you. This can be done through apparitions you see, voices you hear, or another person acting as a channeling medium to tell you what the dead have said.

Some people Satan "deceives in one way, and some in another. He has different delusions prepared to affect different minds. Some look with horror upon one deception, while they readily receive another. Satan deceives some with Spiritualism. He also comes as an angel of light and spreads his influence over the land . . . . The churches are elated, and consider that . . . [Yahuwah] is working marvelously for them, when it is the work of another spirit. The excitement will die away and leave the world and the church in a worse condition than before." (E. G. White, Early Writings, p. 261) Satan has many different ways to exploit a belief in life after death. Various methods are used to attract minds of diverse backgrounds. Paganism, Hinduism, and Voodoo all use trances to communicate with demons. These trances are brought on by extreme excitement from the rhythm of dance, chanting, drums and sometimes drugs. All Roman Catholics who pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus, are praying to a dead woman who cannot hear them. Marian apparitions, believed by many to be Mary herself, are nothing more than demonic impersonations. Prayers to the "saints" are, likewise, prayers offered to dead people whom Scripture states "know not anything." This creates an opportunity for demons to "answer" prayers and confirm the belief that life continues after death. Any miracle or healing that comes as a result of these prayers is from Satan to confirm a person's false belief in life after death. Protestant Christianity is not exempt from communication with demons. Talking in tongues is simply another form of trance. The person interpreting the gibberish for those listening is receiving messages from supernatural influences. Non-religious people who deny the existence of a devil are especially vulnerable to being convinced by paranormal activities that the dead are speaking to them. Common methods used by secular people to communicate with the dead are Ouija boards and séances, Tarot cards, and astrological predictions from the zodiac. New Age deep meditation and hypnotism are particularly dangerous. They are not recognized as being channels to demons, but they provide a direct pathway for demonic influence upon the mind. Communication with demons is very dangerous. It cannot be explained logically but the results are very real. The living want to believe that the dead still love them and can offer wisdom from beyond the grave. However, demons want to destroy every person who will listen to them. All communications are calculated to ensnare and devastate. Yahuwah wants to protect His children from this evil. He strongly and clearly forbids any form of communication with the dead because all such communication is with demons.

"There shall not be found among you anyone . . . who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to . . . [Yahuwah]." (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, NKJV) When the Messiah was on earth He cast out every demon who inhabited a person in His presence. He told the delivered people to go and sin no more lest a greater evil come upon them. This was not some hocus-pocus exorcism, but rather total confidence in the Father's power to free any who believed on Him. Yahuwah's power to save is as strong today as in the days when Messiah was on earth. Behold, Yahuwah's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. (See Isaiah 59:1.) His loving offer is still extended to all: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28, NKJV) If you are tempted or harassed by demonic spirits, if you want the peace and comfort that comes only from Heaven, there is hope. Call upon the name of Yahuwah and claim His power to deliver you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. His word encourages all to: "Come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."(Hebrews 4:16, KJV)
