Teacher Full-Time Ongoing Appointment Burwood Campus Navitas is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including university programs, English language training and settlement services, creative media education, workforce education and student recruitment.

Deakin College, Located on Deakin University’s Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geelong Waterfront and Geelong Waurn Ponds campus, is part of Navitas Limited, with operations across Australia, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. The teacher is responsible for the delivery of Foundation and Diploma Studies Programs at Deakin College. This includes lecturing, providing academic support to students and supervision and marking of assignments and exams.

Essential Qualifications and Selection Criteria i.

Tertiary qualifications in education and/or a relevant field of expertise related to the discipline being taught.

ii.

Extensive experience teaching higher education diplomas in a university pathway program.

iii.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

iv.

Experience with a learning management system to assist and enhance the delivery of subject content.

v.

Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for a multicultural environment.

vi.

A comprehensive understanding of pathway programs and their articulation with university courses.

vii.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and initiate change.

viii.

Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities and meeting deadlines.

1.

Overview and Objectives of the Position:

The teacher is responsible for the delivery of Foundation and Diploma Studies Programs at Deakin College. This includes lecturing, providing academic support to students and supervision and marking of assignments and exams. Teachers are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching and contribute to student development through professional activities and involvement in administration of programs. A willingness to embrace new technologies is vital to success at the College.

Key Result Areas:

Teaching and learning i.

High quality delivery of program materials resulting in strong academic outcomes and student satisfaction, including preparation of classes and associated materials.

ii.

Intensive support for students to ensure strong academic outcomes and student satisfaction, directing students to the Student Counsellor or Academic Skills Advisor as required.

iii.

Maintaining up to date and in depth knowledge of the discipline being taught through publications, professional associations and professional development activities.

iv.

Supervision and marking of assignments and exams.

v.

Complete other tasks relating to the teaching function as required, including attendance at meetings and professional development activities, relevant administrative processes, assistance at orientation, graduation and other social activities.

Academic Governance and Quality vi.

Support academic governance processes to maintain academic quality.

vii.

Promote a culture of academic integrity where staff and students are supported to learn about academic integrity and what it means to do the right thing.

viii.

Participate in academic quality enhancement initiatives as required.

Participate in reviews of course material and development of new programs as required.

3.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria Essential:        
