Terms of Reference for Third Party SDG mapping - Consultant Overview Governments cannot achieve the ambitious Agenda 2030 alone; business, capital markets and other nonstate actors’ engagement is crucial. Through its disclosure platform, CDP is uniquely positioned to drive corporate stakeholder engagement and action in achieving the SDGs, as well as enhance policy on corporate environmental related disclosure. To ensure that CDP’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda is driven by sound evidence and that it makes the most of CDP’s data, it is crucial to understand the interlinkages between CDP’s questionnaires and the insights it generates with the SDGs. A mapping of CDP’s questionnaires against the SDGs, targets and indicators was performed in 2019, and an updated mapping is needed, considering the evolution of CDP’s questionnaires, to allow for improved data-driven policy engagement. Key SDGs relevant to the mapping include: 6 - Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all 7 - Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all 11 - Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable 12 - Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns 13 - Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts 15 - Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.

About CDP CDP is a global non-profit that focuses investors, companies, cities and governments to disclose and act on their environmental impacts. This network of over 515 investors and 125 purchasing companies representing over $106 trillion in assets and purchasing power, along with policymakers and NGOs around the world, uses CDP data and insights to make better-informed decisions to shift capital towards a lowcarbon economy. Our disclosure platform collects data annually from over 8,400 companies on their business operations related to climate change, water security, and deforestation, as well as reporting from over 920 cities, states and regions on mitigation and adaption efforts. The result of this disclosure across sectors and geographies is the world’s most comprehensive collection of accessible, comparable, and selfreported environmental data that is used to drive action by public and private actors.
